Job Description

The Accounting Manager is an integral member of the Cooper Management team. Reporting to the Director of Resort Operations, this person is responsible for all company transactional accounting, processing A/P, managing and reconciling accounts, implementing internal controls, and assisting in preparing financial reports to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. The successful candidate will possess strong attention to detail, self-motivation, and will demonstrate the ability to learn and grow quickly. This role interacts and collaborates regularly with the rest of the Cooper management team.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  •       Prepares journal entries for payroll, taxes, administrative expenses, intercompany transfers, etc.
  •       Properly and accurately documents all company income and expenses.
  •      Maintains the company chart of accounts.
  •      Reconciles bank accounts monthly, verifying deposits and withdrawals.
  •       Performs monthly close duties including any required journal entries and reconciliations.
  •       Reconciles trial balance accounts as needed.
  •       Manages accounts receivable collections.
  •       Books and pays all invoices in a timely fashion.
  •       Implements and monitors effective and secure internal controls.
  •       Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual financial review.
  •       May assist in preparing and filing required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
  •       May occasionally prepare and present financial reports to Board of Directors and answer any questions.
  •       Upholds highest degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
  •       Performs other related duties as assigned.

 Qualification

  •       College degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent combination of knowledge and experience
  •        Extensive knowledge of general financial double entry accounting and accrual accounting.
  •       Thorough understanding of and ability to adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  •       Previous experience and high level of proficiency with NetSuite (or equivalent) accounting software.
  •       Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
  •        Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  •        Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to maintain confidentiality as needed.
  •        Ability to effectively prioritize and apply urgency as needed.
  •        Ability to work efficiently solo, and in a team environment, often under pressure.
  •        Outstanding organizational and time-management skills.
  •       Must have own transportation.

 

Working Conditions

The Accounting Manager position is primarily indoors in the various base area facilities, but will also be outside exposed to temperature extremes (above 85 degrees and below 20 degrees), sun and wind exposure, inclement weather (rain, snow, ice) and high altitudes (10,500+ feet).

 

Physical Requirements

 Must be able to walk on even/uneven/slippery terrain,  climb/descend even/uneven/slippery terrain, climb/descend stairs,  stand and/or sit for long periods of time, bend, stoop, reach, push,  pull, lift objects that may be heavy, and be comfortable around and  operating heavy equipment

 

Compensation and Benefits

Base Salary:   $74,444-83,321 DOE + Full Benefits (health insurance, life insurance, PTO, bonus, profit sharing), employee ski passes and reciprocal skiing privileges.
