Job Summary
The Solar Site Manager is responsible for complete on-site execution, coordination, supervision, and delivery of a 100 MW utility-scale solar power project. The role includes managing civil, mechanical, electrical, and commissioning activities while ensuring safety, quality, schedule adherence, and cost control.
The Site Manager acts as the primary authority at site and coordinates with EPC contractors, subcontractors, consultants, vendors, local authorities, and client representatives to achieve successful project completion.
Key Responsibilities
1. Site Execution & Project Management
- Lead complete site execution activities for the 100 MW solar PV project.
- Monitor daily construction progress against project schedule.
- Ensure timely installation of:
- Module mounting structures
- Solar PV modules
- String inverters / central inverters
- SCB/SMB systems
- Transformers
- HT/LT cable networks
- Switchyard and transmission line works
- Coordinate civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical teams.
- Ensure milestone achievement as per EPC contract.
2. Planning & Scheduling
- Prepare and track weekly/monthly construction schedules.
- Coordinate with planning engineers for manpower and material forecasting.
- Identify delays and implement recovery plans.
- Ensure adherence to commissioning timelines.
3. Contractor & Vendor Management
- Supervise EPC contractors and subcontractors.
- Review contractor productivity and quality performance.
- Coordinate with suppliers for timely material delivery.
- Verify contractor billing and work completion.
4. Quality Assurance & Quality Control
- Ensure work execution complies with:
- Approved drawings
- Technical specifications
- Quality standards
- Client requirements
- Conduct regular quality inspections.
- Ensure proper testing and documentation:
- Cable testing
- Earthing resistance
- IV curve testing
- Transformer testing
- SCADA integration checks
5. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Implement site safety procedures and HSE policies.
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety meetings.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and electrical safety standards.
- Monitor PPE usage and safe work practices.
- Report and investigate incidents or near misses.
6. Coordination & Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate with:
- Client representatives
- Consultants
- Local authorities
- DISCOM / utility officials
- Internal engineering teams
- Attend project review meetings.
- Provide progress updates and MIS reports to management.
7. Testing & Commissioning
- Support pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
- Ensure synchronization and grid connectivity readiness.
- Coordinate performance testing and handover activities.
- Ensure punch point closure before project handover.
8. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain:
- Daily progress reports
- Site logs
- Material reconciliation
- DPR/WPR/MPR reports
- Inspection reports
- Safety records
- Ensure as-built documentation is updated.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Renewable Energy Engineering
Preferred:
- PMP certification
- OSHA / NEBOSH / Safety certifications
Experience Requirements
- 8–15 years of experience in utility-scale solar projects.
- Minimum 3–5 years managing large-scale solar sites (50 MW+ preferred).
- Experience in:
- Ground-mounted solar PV systems
- HT/LT systems
- Switchyard execution
- Transmission line coordination
- Grid synchronization
Required Skills
- Strong project management capability
- Knowledge of solar EPC execution
- Understanding of electrical systems and commissioning
- Team leadership and contractor management
