Role Description
The Site Engineering Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and monitoring all day-to-day maintenance and operational activities at the Coal Handling Plant. The role ensures safe execution of work, optimum utilization of manpower and resources, timely completion of scheduled activities, and compliance with client requirements and statutory safety regulations.
Key Roles & Resposibility
1. Planning & Execution
- Prepare daily, weekly, and shutdown maintenance plans.
- Allocate manpower, tools, tackles, and equipment based on work priorities.
- Ensure timely execution of preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance.
- Coordinate with the client's operation team for work permits, equipment isolation, and shutdown planning.
- Monitor work progress and take corrective action to achieve daily targets.
2. Maintenance Management
- Supervise maintenance of:
- Belt Conveyors
- Crushers
- Screens
- Vibrating Feeders
- Stacker Reclaimers
- Wagon Tipplers
- Transfer Points
- Chutes
- Gearboxes
- Couplings
- Bearings
- Hydraulic Systems
- Dust Suppression Systems
- Ensure quality workmanship and adherence to maintenance standards.
3. Manpower Management
- Plan daily manpower deployment.
- Supervise engineers, supervisors, technicians, fitters, welders, electricians, and helpers.
- Maintain attendance, shift rosters, overtime, and productivity records.
- Conduct toolbox talks before the start of each shift.
4. Safety Management
- Ensure strict compliance with safety procedures.
- Verify availability and proper use of PPE.
- Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and risk assessments.
- Ensure compliance with Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
5. Client Coordination
- Attend daily coordination and review meetings with the client.
- Submit daily progress reports and maintenance status.
- Coordinate shutdown schedules and emergency maintenance activities.
- Resolve site issues promptly to minimize equipment downtime.
6. Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare:
- Daily Progress Reports (DPR)
- Shift reports
- Equipment maintenance history
- Breakdown reports
- Spare parts consumption reports
- Preventive maintenance schedules
- Maintain work permit and safety records.
7. Resource & Inventory Management
- Monitor spare parts inventory.
- Raise material indents and follow up for procurement.
- Ensure proper utilization of tools and consumables.
8. Quality Assurance
- Ensure maintenance work complies with engineering standards and OEM recommendations.
- Inspect completed work before equipment commissioning.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability.
Qualification.
Educational Qualification
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Minimum)
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (Preferred)
Experience
- Diploma: 8–12 years of experience in Coal Handling Plants, Power Plants, Steel Plants, Cement Plants, or Bulk Material Handling Systems.
- B.E./B.Tech: 5–8 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum 3 years in a supervisory or site leadership role.
