About the role

Who we are? Silverfin is a cutting-edge cloud software solution built by accountants, for accountants. Founded in 2013, Silverfin was created to solve the frustrations of manual, error-prone processes in analysing financial data and compliance. From day one, we've been a cloud-first platform with an open API architecture, leveraging structured data to transform how accountants work. Our mission is simple: to enhance and support the accountancy profession through AI and automation, ensuring accountants remain relevant and respected in the future of finance. In 2023, Silverfin became part of the Visma Group, joining one of Europe's leading providers of cloud software. This partnership strengthens our ability to innovate and expand our impact within the accountancy industry. Today, Silverfin is trusted by over 930 firms across 16 countries. Our clients include all of the Big 4 accounting firms, as well as leading global networks like BDO, PKF, Baker Tilly, Grant Thornton, and Moore. Headquartered in Ghent, with offices in London, Luxembourg, and Gouda (NL), we're a team of over 180 people - including a diverse remote engineering team working across multiple time zones - all working together to drive innovation in accounting. How would you support our success? We are looking for an Experienced AI Product Engineer to join the AI team at our Headquarters in Ghent. The AI team currently has 7 other people in it: 4 data scientists, 2 software engineers, and a team lead. As our new AI Product Engineer, you'll be tasked with creating and maintaining the AI technology behind multiple distinct products on the Silverfin Platform, all of which help accountants be more efficient and effective through the application of AI and machine learning. Your responsibilities: - Build and maintain AI applications that help accountants work more effectively and efficiently - Figure out the best way to solve a customer or business problem in close collaboration with data scientists, a product manager, and other engineers - Help shape the architecture of the AI stack in the Silverfin ecosystem What would success look like? The main goal is for you to independently complete a successful AI project: joining discovery with our product managers, designers, and UX engineers to find out what problems our customers are facing. Next, joining a delivery team to bring the AI side of the solution to production. And finally, ensuring the right monitors are in place so you and your peers in the AI team are all capable of maintaining the delivered solution. Next to that, you'll have to gain understanding of the existing ecosystem (the Silverfin main app is a Ruby-on-Rails monolith) and especially the AI side (multiple Python microservices), so that you can efficiently and effectively help monitor the production quality of our apps. You won't be expected to acquire in-depth knowledge of the Rails-side, but all of the Python-based AI apps will eventually be part of your scope. Finally, you'll be expected to actively participate in our agile processes: from proposing improvements to our ways of working during retrospectives, to championing projects and tickets you are convinced will help us move forwards - your ownership mentality and growth mindset should help us not just do CI/CD on our releases, but also Continuous Improvement on our way of working.
