POSITION SUMMARY
The Retail Manager I will oversee the assigned proper management. ensuring profitable operations and effective staff supervision. Additionally, this person is responsible for training new retail staff at multiple locations in various areas such as customer service, inventory tracking, and invoicing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Operate the store and truck stop to maximize long-term distribution to the LIBC.
- Execute the store-level marketing plan to attract and earn customer loyalty.
- Ensure all employees prioritize customer satisfaction and provide excellent customer service.
- Resolve customer complaints and implement strategies to reduce repeat complaints.
- Establish credit policies, operating procedures, and effective merchandise execution strategies to grow sales, optimize inventory management, and ensure smooth operations.
- Oversee all inventory functions including ordering, receiving, entering invoices, pricing, merchandising, and forecasting.
- Supervise physical inventory counts and reconciliation to ensure accuracy as well as examine products periodically to ensure proper quality and condition.
- Implement measures to reduce theft and wastage, maximize sales through price strategy, and inventory efficiency.
- Plan work schedules in alignment with the approved budget and store needs.
- Train, supervise, and mentor Assistant Retail Managers and Retail Supervisors.
- Perform evaluations and implement corrective actions in accordance with HR policies.
- Establish and ensure policies and procedures are documented and adhered to by all staff.
- Supervise office duties, coordinate with appropriate LCC staff, and maintain accurate and organized filing of documents including invoices, reports, reconciliations, ensuring their timely completion and delivery.
- Ensure opening and closing procedures are followed by all employees.
- Coordinate with the Director of Retail Operations and retail managers to utilize standardized training programs for new hires and existing staff on customer service, SSCS, POS, inventory tracking, and invoicing.
- Manage advertising of gas pricing on marketing materials (Gas Buddy, signage, billboard, etc.).
- Adhere to and enforce safety regulations to ensure the safety and well-being of staff, customers, and premises, particularly in areas like fuel management.
- Ensure proper operation, maintenance, and compliance of fuel pumps and dispensers with environmental and government regulations, including responsibility for emergency repairs.
- Manage product availability notifications and update fuel, food, and product pricing on the Lummi Bay Market @ the Reef websites.
- Ensure maintenance and safety of buildings, equipment, fixtures, landscaping, and parking lots.
- Periodically clean and organize shelves as well as display and sell merchandise.
- Meet with the DRO regularly to review budgets and sales reports.
- Attend trainings, conferences, and meetings as required.
- Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of client, staff, and company information.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.

- Familiarity with retail operations, including sales, merchandising, and inventory management.
- Strong understanding of customer service best practices, including effective communication, maintaining professional conduct, and developing relationships, to maximize customer satisfaction, loyalty, and sales, while leading a team.
- Expertise in marketing strategies and how to execute store-level marketing plans effectively.
- Knowledge of inventory control methods and techniques to reduce theft and wastage.
- Proficiency in the proper operation and maintenance of fuel dispensers and pumps.
- Understanding of fuel storage and sales including environmental and government regulations.
- Skill in basic website maintenance for updating pricing and product availability.
- Knowledge of HR policies and procedures, including evaluation and corrective action processes.
- Understanding of retail workforces, including Assistant Retail Managers and Retail Supervisors.
- Competency in safety protocols and maintenance practices for retail facilities.
- Skill in problem-solving, especially in handling and resolving customer complaints.
- Experience in optimizing inventory, including ordering, receiving, and invoice processing.
- Ability to schedule and manage staff, ensuring efficient operations aligned with the budget.
- Expertise in training and mentoring, including implementing standardized training programs.
- Skill in coordinating between departments or entities, such as with LCC.
- Skill in maintaining accurate and organized records, like invoices, reports, and reconciliations.
- Familiarity with advertising and pricing strategies, especially in the context of fuel management.
- Basic understanding of web maintenance for updating content on websites.
- Demonstrates capacity to multitask and manage various aspects of retail store operations.
- Shows proficiency in prioritizing tasks and delegating responsibilities effectively.
- Able to quickly respond to and resolve issues related to fuel dispensers and store equipment.
- Possesses ability to maintain confidentiality concerning sensitive information.
- Shows capability to learn and adapt to new technologies and methods in retail management.
- Ability to attend trainings, conferences, and meetings to stay informed and contribute positively.
- Has understanding and ability to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and laws.
- Ability to work various shifts including holidays, nights, overnights, and weekends.
- Must pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol tests as required by the LIBC Drug & Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy.
- Must pass an extensive criminal background check.
Computer Skills:
- Skill with inventory management and POS systems to manage sales.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook for tacking and communication.
- Familiarity with website management systems for updating store information.

Experience: Requires two (2) years’ experience in retail operations and six (6) months of experience as an LCC Supervisor or equivalent.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Retail Manager I supervises Assistant Retail Manager I including managing productivity, staff development, defining essential job functions, and coaching.
