Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Signage Graphic Designer who understands the U.S. signage industry and can create accurate proofs, production-ready artwork, ADA-compliant signage, and client-ready presentation files. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience working with signage companies in the United States and must understand signage specifications, fabrication requirements, ADA standards, print-ready files, and proofing workflows.
The designer will work closely with project managers, sales teams, production teams, and U.S. clients to create signage proofs, shop drawings, ADA signage layouts, and fabrication-ready artwork.
Key Responsibilities
Signage Design & Proof Creation
- Create professional signage proofs for client approvals.
- Design storefront signs, channel letters, monument signs, pylon signs, wayfinding signs, wall graphics, window graphics, vehicle wraps, directional signage, and ADA signs.
- Prepare proof renderings showing dimensions, materials, colors, placement, mounting methods, and logo positioning.
- Create multiple proof variations based on client feedback.
- Ensure all proofs are clean, organized, and easy for clients to understand.
- Add revision notes and markups properly.
- Create scaled layouts and mockups.
- Produce realistic renderings and visual presentations when required.
- Understand how to present signs on building elevations and site photos.
ADA Signage Knowledge
- Design ADA-compliant signage as per U.S. accessibility standards.
- Understand tactile lettering requirements.
- Understand Grade 2 Braille placement standards.
- Understand character height, spacing, stroke width, and contrast requirements.
- Knowledge of pictograms and ADA symbol requirements.
- Understand mounting height and location standards for ADA signs.
- Prepare ADA production-ready files with proper layers and spacing.
- Understand raster Braille and vector Braille workflows.
- Familiarity with restroom signs, room IDs, exit signs, accessibility signs, and wayfinding systems.
Production-Ready Artwork
- Prepare print-ready and fabrication-ready files.
- Understand bleed, crop marks, cut paths, routing paths, welding indications, and trim allowances.
- Create vector artwork suitable for CNC routing, laser cutting, vinyl cutting, and printing.
- Set up files for large-format printing.
- Prepare layered production files for fabrication teams.
- Understand scale conversions for large signs.
- Organize files properly for production and revisions.
Technical Signage Knowledge - Understand sign materials including:
- Acrylic
- Aluminum
- ACM panels
- PVC
- Vinyl
- Reflective vinyl
- LED illuminated signs
- Dimensional letters
- Frosted films
- Banners
- Coroplast
- Understand fabrication limitations and practical production considerations.
- Understand illuminated vs non-illuminated signage.
- Knowledge of sign mounting methods:
- Flush mount
- Raceway mount
- Stud mount
- Projection mount
- Suspended signs
- Understand resolution requirements for large-format graphics.
- Understand color matching and Pantone specifications.
Shop Drawings & Technical Layouts
- Create basic signage shop drawings when required.
- Prepare dimensioned layouts and installation references.
- Show sign sizes, elevations, mounting details, spacing, and placement.
- Read architectural drawings and floor plans.
- Understand site surveys and measurement references.
- Coordinate artwork based on site photos and measurements.
Client & Team Coordination
- Work with U.S.-based project managers and signage clients.
- Interpret client markups and revision requests accurately.
- Communicate professionally through email and meetings.
- Meet project deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintain organized file naming and folder structures.
- Handle multiple signage projects simultaneously.

Candidate must be proficient in:
- Adobe Illustrator (mandatory)

Qualification
- Diploma or Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related field.
- 2 5+ years of signage design experience preferred.
