�� Role Overview
The Senior Chemist – DRI QC is responsible for overseeing chemical testing, quality assurance, and process control of Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) to ensure it meets required specifications for downstream steelmaking.
�� Key Responsibilities
�� Quality Control & Testing
- Perform and supervise chemical analysis of DRI, iron ore, coal, dolomite, and fluxes.
- Ensure accurate determination of key parameters like:
- Total Iron (Fe), Metallic Fe, FeO
- Carbon, Sulfur, Phosphorus
- Gangue content (SiO₂, Al₂O₃)
- Use lab techniques such as wet chemistry, XRF, LECO, and spectrometry.
⚙️ Process Monitoring & Support
- Monitor DRI process quality (kiln parameters impact on chemistry).
- Coordinate with production teams to maintain optimal metallization and carbon levels.
- Provide feedback to operations for process corrections.
�� Data Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze lab results and identify trends or deviations.
- Prepare daily, shift-wise, and monthly quality reports.
- Maintain proper documentation and lab records.
�� Method Development & Calibration
- Develop and standardize testing methods.
- Ensure calibration and maintenance of lab instruments.
- Implement best practices for accuracy and repeatability.

- Ensure adherence to lab safety protocols and chemical handling standards.
- Follow environmental and regulatory compliance norms.

- Lead and guide junior chemists and lab technicians.
- Train staff on testing procedures and safety practices.
