Salary Range: $52,389 - $61,725 / academic year at 80% FTE, dependent upon education and experience
Music Technology instructors in the Humanities Division are responsible for teaching students in professional technical programs. Candidates who hold an appropriate Master’s may also teach music transfer courses. Department faculty work collaboratively to develop curriculum integrating the study of music and music technology. The successful candidate may be responsible for teaching a variety of courses in multi-track recording, mixing, mastering, and recording studio techniques.
In addition to teaching, this position involves approximately 4.5 hours/week of non-instructional duties with a focus on supporting the Faculty Program Coordinator. Such duties may include student advising, proving input on the construction and technical requirements for new recording facilities, planning the packaging and transportation of current studio equipment to new building, assisting with implementation of newly revised curriculum in the program, and other duties as assigned.Position Duties
Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in audio engineering, music, or a closely related field
- Five (5) years music technology industry experience, including industry recognition
- Proficiency with ProTools in a large-format recording console environment
- Experience teaching and developing course curriculum in and around analog recording and mixing on a large format audio console, studio best practices and beginning to advanced operation of ProTools
- Experience coordinating the installation and maintenance of a recording studio, including installation and testing of large format audio consoles, patch bays, cable routing and wiring, signal flow routing as well as studio testing and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of:- Recording and mixing audio in a professional studio environment
- Leveraging industry partnerships, evidenced by professional networks and membership in industry organizations
- Preparing students for evolving labor market needs, including the region’s music production, interactive media, and gaming industries.
- Sound design supporting 3D and VR audio production and multimedia codecs, optimization for internet streaming

Minimum Qualifications
Physical Work Environment:
The College offers both in-person and online services, with the option of some assignments to be completed in an online environment based on program or area needs. For remote (online) instruction, faculty will need to provide their own workspace and internet access, noting the College will provide technical equipment and support for online work needs. For on-campus in-person instruction, work is usually performed in a classroom/studio space that requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. Faculty typically use computers and media equipment in the work environment.
Terms Of Employment/Salary:
Pro-Rata 80% of full-time load, non-tenure-track academic position
172-day annual contract beginning September 17, 2026
Salary placement determined by the number of qualifying years of teaching/work experience combined with the level of the related degree attained at an accredited institution
Hiring of this position is contingent upon available funding as determined by the College President.
