About The Role
The mission of the
Core Creative team is to make sure entrepreneurs love and default to Shopify. Our team consists of smart, committed marketers, creatives, and developers, all of whom focus on designing experiences that enable more people to learn, love, and default to Shopify.We’re a passionate, creative team that thrives on experimenting with new technologies and creating unique human-centered experiences.
As a senior creative developer you should be fluent in front-end web technologies such as React and Remix, you’re challenging yourself with CSS animations and playing with WebGL and shaders. You should enjoy experimenting with new technology and approaches to positively impact our customers.
You are experienced with scaling and developing features, and can comfortably communicate complex technical concepts across the organization.
A can-do attitude is vital, as you should be able to swiftly identify risks or potential roadblocks and strategize solutions. You strive for accessibility and performance across all points of the technology stack, and enthusiastically engage with review teams to ensure systems are meeting the latest standards. Your data-informed designs and proven impact measurement skills will make you stand out among applicants. You’re comfortable owning features from conception to maintenance, and can troubleshoot production issues on-call.

Qualifications
- Experience with building performant and accessible Remix (React) applications from the ground-up
- Strong experience in creative development, including: WebGL (three JS/R3F, custom shaders…), canvas 2d, animation libraries… You’re obsessed with performance and optimization
- Ability to prototype, executing and pushing on a creative vision
- Strong understanding of web technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with different disciplines
- A passion for learning and staying up-to-date with latest web tech
- Ability to think creatively and experiment with new and experimental approaches
- A required portfolio demonstrating creative coding and development projects
- Performance, creativity and accessibility are the main keywords defining your work

- Own problems, decide on implementation code for their own work, and reliably resolve blockers to assist in service ownership of any production code or service.

- Familiarity with Shopify products is a plus
