Job details:
Support end-to-end flow of sales data from Shopify to ERP/MMS, ensuring daily accuracy
and completeness of financial postings.
Troubleshoot data discrepancies and integration issues, and support QA/validation of long-
term fixes to improve data integrity and reconciliation.
Primary Skills (Core Requirements)
1. Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills
• Strong debugging and root cause analysis capability
• Ability to work with large datasets and identify inconsistencies
• Comfortable working with finance, engineering, and operations stakeholders
2. Optional Soft Skills (Helpful in this role)
• Strong communication between technical and finance teams
• Ability to translate business requirements into data mappings
• Attention to detail (critical for financial accuracy)
3. Shopify Platform Understanding
• Strong working knowledge of Shopify data model:
• • Orders, line items, refunds, fulfillments, payouts
• Understanding of tax, discounts, and shipping calculations within Shopify
• Familiarity with Shopify Admin and reporting
4. API & Data Handling (GraphQL + JSON)
• Hands-on experience with GraphQL:
• • Writing queries, navigating nested structures, pagination
• Strong proficiency in JSON:
• • Parsing, validating, and mapping data structures
• • Ability to analyze Shopify API responses and map fields to downstream
systems
5. Data Integration & Flow Understanding
• Understanding of end-to-end data flow between systems (Shopify → middleware
→ ERP/MMS)
• Experience with:
• • Webhooks vs batch processing
• • Error handling, retries, and data consistency
• • Ability to trace and troubleshoot data issues across systems
6. Sales Reconciliation & Accounting Fundamentals
• Understanding of:
• • Order-to-cash lifecycle
• • Revenue vs cash (orders vs payouts)
• • Tax handling and financial reporting impacts
• Experience reconciling:
• • •Shopify transactions vs ERP postings
• Ability to identify discrepancies and root causes
Secondary Skills (Nice-to-Have / Value Add)

1. ERP / MMS Experience
• Exposure to financial system integrations and journal entries
2. Middleware / Integration Tools
• Understanding of transformation and mapping layers
3. Automation & Scripting
• Basic scripting (Python, JavaScript) for data validation or API interaction
• Ability to automate reconciliation checks
4. Testing & QA Mindset
• Experience in system/integration testing
• Ability to create test scenarios for financial data validation
• Familiarity with defect tracking and issue documentation
5. Domain Knowledge (Retail / eCommerce)
• Understanding of retail business processes:
o Promotions, returns, omnichannel flows
• Awareness of financial close processes (month-end reconciliation)
