Being a Shopify Intern

Our hiring process is unique. We match interns to teams we think they’d be successful in and what works best for Shopify. We’re looking for:

• Applied Machine Learning Engineers to use extensive data to build products and create and fine-tune ML models.
• Infrastructure Engineers to build and develop the blocks that move all of Shopify forward.
• Security Engineers to detect, evaluate, and address security threats to Shopify and its merchants.
• Software Engineers to craft the code that powers commerce, creating the extendable products that scale the entire commerce stack.
• Shopify is a big part of the Ruby and Rails communities, and we’re constantly improving our codebase to make it even better. You do not need prior Rails experience to apply to this Internship!
• After Onboarding, Interns are expected to work in the office for 3 days/week. Interns can choose these 3 days, but it’s important to talk to your Manager and Mentor about what may work best for the team.
  
  
  

Working at Shopify

• You must be legally entitled to work in Canada for the entire duration of the Fall 2025 internship (September 2nd to December 19th, 2025). Shopify does not provide immigration support to intern candidates at this time.
• Our Canadian Engineering internships are 4 month long, full-time, paid experiences.
• This is a Fall 2025 Internship program. Winter 2026 and Summer 2026 internships are not currently available. Our Winter and Summer 2026 program dates will launch on our website this Summer!
• As an Engineering Intern you must be able to work from one of our three Canadian offices: Montréal (490 Rue De la Gauchetière O), Ottawa (150 O’Connor Street), or Toronto (620 King West).
  
  
  

Please note: if you don’t currently live in Montréal, Ottawa, or Toronto, you must be willing and able to relocate for in-office experiences to the closest Shopify office to you. If successful in your application to the Engineering Internships Program, we will match you to a team when you start at Shopify. We’re unable to accommodate requests for particular teams and location changes once an offer is signed.

Onboarding

• Your onboarding week will take place from September 2nd to 5th. Interns must be located in their office city by the first day of Onboarding (September 2nd) ready to work 9:00am - 5:00pm. You can’t work from outside Canada.

Être stagiaire chez Shopify

Notre processus de recrutement est unique. Nous affectons les stagiaires aux équipes qui leur correspondent le mieux et qui répondent aux besoins de Shopify. Nous recherchons des :

• Ingénieur(e)s en Machine Learning appliqué pour exploiter des volumes de données importants afin de concevoir des produits et créer ou affiner des modèles de ML.
• Ingénieur(e)s en infrastructure pour construire et développer les bases qui soutiennent toute la plateforme Shopify.
• Ingénieur(e)s en sécurité pour détecter, analyser et résoudre les menaces de sécurité pesant sur Shopify et sur ses marchands.
• Ingénieur(e)s logiciel pour créer le code au cœur du commerce, en développant des produits évolutifs qui structurent toute la stack e-commerce.
• Shopify joue un rôle majeur dans les communautés Ruby et Rails, et nous améliorons continuellement notre codebase pour le rendre toujours plus performant. Pas besoin d’avoir déjà travaillé avec Rails pour postuler à ce stage !
• Après l’intégration, les stagiaires devront travailler au bureau 3 jours par semaine. Les stagiaires peuvent choisir ces 3 jours, mais il est important d’en parler avec votre manager et votre mentor pour identifier ce qui convient le mieux à l’équipe.
  
  
  

Travailler chez Shopify

• Vous devez être légalement autorisé(e) à travailler au Canada pendant toute la durée du stage d’automne 2025 (du 2 septembre au 19 décembre 2025). Shopify ne propose pas de soutien en matière d’immigration pour les stagiaires à ce jour.
• Nos stages en ingénierie au Canada sont des expériences à temps plein, rémunérées, d’une durée de 4 mois.
• Il s’agit ici du programme de stage de l’automne 2025. Les stages d’hiver 2026 et d’été 2026 ne sont pas encore disponibles. Les dates de nos programmes pour l’hiver et l’été 2026 seront annoncées sur notre site web cet été !
• En tant que stagiaire en ingénierie, vous devez pouvoir travailler dans l’un de nos trois bureaux canadiens : Montréal (490 Rue De la Gauchetière O), Ottawa (150 O’Connor Street) ou Toronto (620 King West).
  
  
  

À noter : si vous ne vivez pas actuellement à Montréal, Ottawa ou Toronto, vous devez être prêt(e) à déménager pour travailler en présentiel dans le bureau Shopify le plus proche. Si votre candidature au programme de stages en ingénierie est retenue, une équipe vous sera attribuée à votre arrivée chez Shopify. Nous ne pourrons pas accepter de demandes de changement d’équipe ou de bureau une fois l’offre signée.

Intégration

• Votre semaine d’intégration aura lieu du 2 au 5 septembre. Les stagiaires doivent être installé(e)s dans la ville où se trouve leur bureau avant le premier jour de leur intégration (le 2 septembre), prêt(e)s à travailler de 9 h à 17 h. Vous ne pouvez pas effectuer ce stage si vous ne vivez pas au Canada.
