### About the Role
We are starting a premium leather mule footwear brand and are looking for an experienced Shoe Designer & Footwear Product Developer who can help us design, develop, and bring high-quality leather mules to production.
The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of footwear design, leather selection, shoe construction, comfort, pattern making, last development, sampling, and production coordination. This role is suitable for someone who has already worked in the footwear industry and understands both the creative and technical sides of shoe making.
### Key Responsibilities
* Design premium leather mule shoes, loafers, and related footwear styles.
* Create sketches, mood boards, design concepts, and technical drawings.
* Select suitable leather, lining, sole, insole, thread, trims, and accessories.
* Work on footwear patterns, lasts, upper design, sole design, and construction details.
* Coordinate with pattern makers, sample makers, karigars, and manufacturers.
* Develop prototypes and improve samples based on comfort, fit, quality, and aesthetics.
* Understand luxury footwear finishing, stitching, edge finishing, sole attachment, and detailing.
* Ensure the final product is stylish, comfortable, durable, and production-ready.
* Help create size specifications, tech packs, BOM, and production guidelines.
* Identify practical manufacturing methods for small-batch premium leather footwear.
### Required Qualifications
* Degree or diploma in Footwear Design, Leather Goods Design, Product Design, Fashion Design, Industrial Design, or Footwear Technology.
* Preference will be given to candidates from reputed institutes such as FDDI, NIFT, CFTI, CLRI, or similar footwear/design institutes.
* Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in footwear design and development.
* Prior experience in leather shoes, loafers, mules, formal shoes, or luxury footwear is strongly preferred.
* Strong understanding of shoe construction, materials, patterns, lasts, soles, and fitting.

* Footwear sketching and design development.
* Leather material knowledge.
* Pattern-making understanding.
* Last and fitting knowledge.
* Sole and insole construction knowledge.
* Comfort and fit testing.
* Sample development and correction.
* Tech pack preparation.
* Vendor/manufacturer coordination.
* Knowledge of handmade and machine-made leather shoe production.
### Good to Have
* Experience working with premium or luxury leather footwear brands.
* Knowledge of Italian-style loafers, mules, and formal footwear.
* Experience with small-batch or bespoke footwear production.
* Ability to guide karigars/sample makers.
* Knowledge of costing, leather consumption, and production feasibility.
* Basic software knowledge such as Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, Photoshop, Rhino, CLO3D, or other footwear CAD tools.
### Portfolio Requirement
Candidates must share a portfolio showing previous footwear designs, technical drawings, samples, or finished products. Applications without a footwear portfolio may not be considered.
