About the Team and the Role:
The In-Process Quality Control (IPQC) team at Ather is responsible for ensuring product adherence to drawings, control plans, and specification sheets through rigorous product and process audits. They lead the shift in achieving critical SQCDM pillars, managing internal and external ISO audits, and driving multiskilling of associates to maintain high quality standards across the vehicle assembly lines.
This role is for a Shift Incharge who will oversee line inspection standards, conduct 3M analysis for quality issues (SPR, OLE, complaints), and manage the change process during various build stages. You will be responsible for leading a team to minimize line loss, tracking instrument calibration, and collaborating cross-functionally to implement containment actions and process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Lead shift operations to ensure 100% adherence to quality standards and safety protocols, including the management of IMS documentation and 5S standards.
- Conduct layered, patrol, and containment audits to identify process gaps and ensure product compliance with drawings and control plans.
- Analyze and resolve quality issues using 8D and problem-solving tools for SPR, rejections, and customer complaints to drive KPI targets.
- Manage manpower planning, recruitment, and multiskilling of associates through OJT to ensure optimal skill deployment at all workstations.
- Oversee quality milestones during X1-build, LVPT, and HVPT stages, ensuring all issues are addressed and closed prior to mass production.
- Collaborate with Spec Ops and MQA teams to implement containment actions, minimize line stops, and resolve unknown causer rejections.
- Manage the change management process (QIR, FTR, CR, PPAP) and provide data-driven feedback to stakeholders for continuous improvement.
- Track and update the calibration of instruments according to the defined plan to maintain inspection accuracy.
Experience And Qualifications
- B.Tech / B.E or equivalent engineering degree.
- 4-7 years of work experience with automotive organization.
Must Have Competencies
- Expertise in Lean Manufacturing, productivity, and Quality Improvement tools to drive operational excellence.
- Advanced proficiency in Quality Core Tools including SPC, MSA, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, and GD&T.
- Comprehensive knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 standards and Sampling Plans for manufacturing quality assurance.
- Advanced capability in People Management to lead shift teams, manage multiskilling, and oversee associate performance.
Good to Have Competencies
- Proficiency in using SAP and JIRA for quality tracking, reporting, and lifecycle management.
- Familiarity with Digital Manufacturing and Industry 4.0 principles to enhance process efficiency.
- Technical knowledge of CMM, FARO, and advanced inspection equipment for precision measurement.
- Working knowledge of Integrated Management Systems including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
