Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Shift Engineer role based in Khambhalia. The Shift Engineer will oversee daily plant or project operations during assigned shifts, ensuring equipment runs safely, reliably, and efficiently. Responsibilities include monitoring process parameters, coordinating with operations and maintenance teams, and responding promptly to alarms, breakdowns, or deviations from standard operating conditions. The role involves performing routine inspections, logging shift activities, updating checklists, and supporting troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for technical issues. The Shift Engineer will also help implement safety procedures, support preventive maintenance plans, and report shift performance and incidents to site management.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, or chemical engineering principles relevant to plant or project operations.
- Experience in shift operations, equipment monitoring, and coordination with maintenance and operations teams in an industrial or EPC environment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, process flow diagrams, standard operating procedures, and equipment manuals.
- Knowledge of workplace safety practices, basic risk assessment, and adherence to statutory and company safety standards.
- Effective communication, documentation, and reporting skills for shift logs, incident reports, and coordination with cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, with the ability to respond calmly and methodically to operational upsets or emergencies.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications and willingness to learn site-specific control systems or monitoring software.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Instrumentation, or related field) from an accredited institution.
- Previous experience in power, oil and gas, heavy industry, or EPC project sites is an advantage.
- Willingness to work in rotating shifts and be physically present on-site in Khambhalia as required.
