Education, Certification in Educational Leadership, School
Administration or Director of Exceptional Child Services (preferred)
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education
SUPERVISES: Educational Diagnostician Consultants, Itinerant positions in special
education as designated, other staff in the Exceptional Children
Services department as designated by the Director of Special
Education.
JOB GOAL: To assist in implementing the district special education services to
students with disabilities and compliance with due process procedures.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking.
Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing.
Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.
Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull weights up to thirty (30) pounds.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Adhere to the Professional Code of Ethics as established by the Education Professional Standards
Board (EPSB).
Incorporate the diverse perspectives of multiple communities and backgrounds in the
consideration of impacts and outcomes of a decision-making process.
Understand the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on
underserved and underrepresented communities.
Assist with the coordination of evaluation referrals, as needed.
Assist with the coordination and implementation of gifted and talented referrals, evaluation, and
services.
Assist in monitoring the continuum of services provided for pupils.
Keep complete and accurate records and submit required information according to specified
timelines.
Assist in the gathering data and preparing written reports and summaries, as needed, for the
Director of Special Education
Work collaboratively with the Director of Special Education to determine staffing projections for
special education programs including related services.
Assist in the grant applications for funds to be used in serving exceptional children including
IDEA, SEEK Add Ons, WHAS Crusade for Children, and Medicaid Reimbursement Programs.
Coordinate and complete requisitions for WHAS and Medicaid purchases.
Assist in the selection process for hiring of any special education personnel, as needed.
Assist in the implementation of a comprehensive system for recording and reporting pupil data
including a child tracking system.
Conduct professional development training to district personnel as requested related to services
for students with disabilities.
Serve as ARC chairperson, as assigned and/or act as consulting member of ARC meetings in
order to assist in making appropriate program decisions for students.
Serve as Section 504 Coordinator for the district.

Serve as district contact for Child Find, FAPE letters, Private School Liaison, Complaints/Due
Process supports, transfer students, student records requests from outside providers/attorneys, and
independent evaluations.
Attend district, local, and state training as needed to complete job responsibilities.
Assist with the arrangement of Extended School Year programs and services for qualifying
exceptional children.
Assist special education teachers in maintaining accurate due process folders and documentation
as required by special education regulations and procedures.
Assist in procurement of instructional materials and equipment for designated programs.
Assist in planning transportation arrangements for students with disabilities.
Develop procedures for parent and community participation in planning, implementing, and
evaluating the districts special education services for students.
Assist with integration of interagency communication, cooperation, and coordination of
educational and support services for students.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
