TITLE: Teacher (Classroom Primary – 12)
QUALIFICATIONS: Certification by Kentucky Department of Education
REPORTS TO: Principal
SUPERVISES: N/A

JOB GOAL: Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s
philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small
group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the need and learning styles of each
pupil.
2. Translates lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time for
instruction.
3. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional
learning atmosphere in the classroom.
4. Evaluates pupil’s academic, behavioral, and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and
prepares progress reports on a regular basis.
5. Communicates with students and parents through conferences and other means to discuss
pupil’s progress and interpret the school program.
6. Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing
and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
7. Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays
and bulletin boards.
8. Maintains professional competence through professional staff development activities
provided by the district and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
9. Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator in the district evaluation
process.

10. Selects and requisitions books, equipment and other instructional materials’ maintains
required inventory records.
11. Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
12. Administers group standardized tests in accordance with district testing program.
13. Participates in curriculum development programs as required.
14. Participates in faculty meetings, team meetings, departmental meetings, committees and
the sponsorship of pupil co-curricular activities as assigned.
15. Employs a variety of instructional techniques, strategies and media, consistent with the
needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
16. Implements by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and
instructional goals and objectives.
17. Takes all necessary and reasonable precaution to ensure the safety of students and staff.
18. Accepts responsibility for appropriate utilization of and the care of equipment, materials
and facilities.
19. Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and
administrative regulations.
20. Assists in enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board Policies.
21. Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives,
and strategies.
22. Correlates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and
strategies.
23. Promotes good public relations with parents and other members of the
community-at-large.
24. Assigns tasks for which students have a high probability of success and expects all
students to make reasonable progress.
25. Provides guidance to pupils which will promote their welfare and educational
development.

26. Implements authentic instruction and continuous assessment.

27. Accepts responsibility for effectively supervising classroom aide and volunteers assigned
to program/classroom.
