Patent Prosecution Lateral Attorney or Attorney Group

Sheehan Phinney Bass & Green PA is a prominent mid-size law firm, headquartered in Manchester, NH.  We are seeking a lateral attorney or attorney group to join our Intellectual Property (IP) practice. The IP practice provides goal-driven, practical, and innovative legal services in matters concerning all aspects of intellectual property (IP) law focusing on protecting and enforcing Clients’ IP rights while also ensuring that those rights are aligned with their overall business strategies. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced patent prosecution attorney or a small team seeking a supportive and collaborative environment with a robust firm infrastructure to integrate and grow their existing portfolio. This position (or team) will be based from Sheehan's location in Boston, Massachusetts, Manchester, NH or Portsmouth, NH. 

Responsibilities

• Primarily focused on U.S. and international patent preparation and prosecution, as well developing and managing global strategic patent portfolios for clients.
• Collaborating with attorneys across practice groups on matters involving IP rights.
• Potential for patent opinion work and related counseling, including conducting patent searches and providing risk assessments and strategic advice.
• Actively supports business developments efforts.

Requirements

J.D. from an accredited law school registered to practice before the US Patent & Trademark Office, a moderate portable book of business, and seven or more years of experience practicing as a registered patent prosecution attorney. A technical background is required in electrical engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, physics, or related areas. Strong client service orientation and proven ability to manage and grow a book of business. EEO
