What You'll Do
Day to day, you will own platform operations across production and non-production tenants site provisioning, OneDrive sync health, and the broader M365 workloads including Teams, Purview, Power Platform, and Viva. On the governance side, you will design and document the information architecture, standardize provisioning templates, fix broken permission inheritance, and lead the clean-up and modernization of the site portfolio. Security sits at the core of the role, you will configure sensitivity labels, DLP policies, and retention rules, manage external sharing, enforce least-privilege access, and strengthen audit logging and incident response capabilities. You will also plan and execute content migrations, build SPFx web parts and Power Automate flows, develop Power Apps, and maintain integrations with identity and line-of-business systems. Rounding it out, you will deliver training to site owners and end users and build a knowledge transfer program.
What We're Looking For
The essentials:
– 6–10+ years administering SharePoint Online in an enterprise environment
– Strong Microsoft 365 admin skills across SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and Exchange
– Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview — sensitivity labels, DLP, and retention
– Power Platform development: Power Automate (including premium connectors), Power Apps, Power BI
– SPFx web part development and deployment via the App Catalog
– Azure Active Directory / Entra ID — Conditional Access, identity governance, guest access
– Experience managing large-scale content estates and complex permission models
– Ability to design and implement governance frameworks and information architecture from scratch
– Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as FERPA, HIPAA, PCI DSS, NIST, ISO 27001, or GDPR
– Experience with ITSM platforms and structured change management processes
Nice to have:
– Microsoft certifications: SC-400, MS-700, PL-900/PL-100, or equivalent
– Experience with migration tools such as Sharegate, Metalogix, or the Microsoft SharePoint Migration Tool
– Background in ERP/HRIS integrations via Power Automate, and dual-tenant M365 environments
– Microsoft Sentinel or SIEM experience for audit log analysis and security monitoring
– Prior work in regulated sectors — higher education or public sector
What Success Looks Like
In the first month, the immediate priority is cleaning up and modernizing the site portfolio, establishing governance foundations, and beginning the security assessment. By six months, a formal information architecture is in place, sensitivity labels and DLP policies are live, provisioning is standardized, and the platform is measurably more secure and organized. By twelve months, the environment is mature and widely adopted — with integrated M365 services, workflow automation, strong governance, a fully trained backup administrator, and thorough documentation. Performance is measured across ticket resolution times, platform uptime, adoption rates, customer satisfaction, and maturity governance.
