Company Description Elara Childcare Therapy Centre and Day Care is a dedicated child development center located in BTM Layout 2nd Stage, Bengaluru. The centre offers a safe, nurturing environment where children can grow, learn, and reach their potential. Elara provides a range of therapeutic and educational services, including Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, Art Therapy, Sensory activities, Special Education, Daily Life Skills training, and School Readiness programs. In addition to therapy services, the centre offers full-day daycare support for families seeking holistic care. Role Description The Shadow Teacher / Behavioural Therapist will provide one-on-one support to children within the centre’s programs and, where applicable, in mainstream classroom settings. This full-time, on-site role is based in Bengaluru South and involves closely observing the child, reinforcing therapeutic strategies, and helping them participate meaningfully in learning and daily activities. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with classroom tasks, supporting communication and social skills, helping manage behavior using therapy-informed techniques, and promoting independence in daily life skills. The Shadow Teacher will collaborate with therapists and special educators to implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), track progress, and share observations with families and the multidisciplinary team. The role also includes preparing simple learning materials, maintaining a safe and inclusive environment, and participating in team meetings and training sessions.
Qualifications
- Foundational knowledge of child development, special education principles, and inclusive classroom practices; experience working with neurodivergent children or children with developmental delays is preferred.
- Skills in behavior observation, classroom support, and implementing therapy or education plans under guidance from therapists and special educators.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills to work effectively with children, families, therapists, and educators.
- Ability to provide patient, empathetic, and consistent support; capable of managing challenging behaviors calmly and constructively.
- Organizational skills for documenting progress, following routines, and maintaining a structured, safe environment.
- Minimum of a Masters degree in Psychology.
- Willingness to learn and participate in ongoing training in Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, and other centre-based interventions.
- Ability to work full time on-site in Bengaluru South, with flexibility and commitment to the child’s schedule and program needs.
