About the Department
Primary Function:
The Director of Technology provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the technological ecosystem that powers the Education for Ministry (EfM). This role ensures that technology effectively supports content delivery, communication, data management, and participant experience. The Director advances, integrates, and safeguards all core platforms to ensure they function securely, seamlessly, and at scale.
This position receives general supervision. Broad instructions are provided, and the staff member uses judgment and experience to carry out assignments. Completed assignments and finished products are reviewed by the supervisor after completion.Position Appointment Details:Position Duties
Typical Duties & Responsibilities:
Technology Strategy and Oversight
Develops and implements a comprehensive technology strategy aligned with EfM’s mission and operational goals
Maintains and advances the full technological ecosystem supporting formation delivery worldwide
Evaluates emerging tools and systems to strengthen efficiency, accessibility, and scalability
Supports all EfM constituents in navigating technology
Platform Management
Oversees Pathwright (learning management platform)
Oversees Slate (CRM and database management system)
Oversees Banner (university system integration)
Oversees Mailchimp and Substack (communications platforms)
Ensures effective integration and data flow across all systems
Integration and Data Management
Designs and maintains system integrations to ensure accurate, consistent, and accessible data
Establishes data governance standards and reporting capabilities
Ensures seamless user experience across platforms for mentors, participants, coordinators, trainers, and staff
Security and Compliance
Implements and monitors cybersecurity protocols and best practices
Ensures compliance with institutional and regulatory data protection standards
Oversees system permissions, backups, and risk mitigation processes
Operational Support and Innovation
Provides leadership for troubleshooting, vendor management, and technical problem resolution
Supports staff training and adoption of technological tools
Identifies opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, and digital engagement
QualificationsDemonstrated experience in technology leadership, systems administration, or IT management
Experience managing learning platforms, CRM systems, and enterprise integrations
Strong understanding of data architecture, cybersecurity, and compliance standards
Proven ability to oversee vendor relationships and contractual agreements
Excellent project management and cross-functional communication skills
Experience in higher education, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations preferred
Judgement Required:
Prescribed, established procedures are primarily used to perform the essential functions of this position.

Student Contact:
Some contact with seminary students and student workers
Internal (Operations Committee, Faculty, Administrative department heads)
Daily interaction with EfM participants, mentors, trainers, coordinators, and daily interaction with EfM staff and seminary staff
External (Regents & Trustees, government officials or agencies, visitors, parents, other institutions, colleges, or companies, suppliers)
Answers general information questions by email and over the telephone; interacts with visitors to the Programs Center
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Degree in technology support
Job-Related Skills:
Good communication and customer relations skills are necessary; an understanding of computer technology
