Role Purpose:

As a part of the DevOps team, you will be the bridge between product engineering and infrastructure. Designing observability, operations, automation, ensuring smooth delivery, SLAs, SLOs, and SLIs, and security compliance will be among your chief responsibilities to shoulder. Your work will help developers function in a deterministic environment and deliver reliable products seamlessly, thereby improving the entire organization’s quality of output and shortening time to market.

In short, constant learning and quick implementation to build uniform and reliable platforms and processes, while inherently maintaining security and compliance in the systems.


What will you do at Setu?

The SRE role involves owning the responsibility of creating, building, and ensuring the smooth operation of our infrastructure. Broadly this translates to the following roles—

Architect: Design on-call policies, help tech leads define SLAs, SLIs and achieve SLOs, chaos inducing systems, etc.

Build: Along with building Setu’s observability stack, automating every operational task is a core requirement for the SRE team. E.g. configuration changes across all services without interruptions, tools for automatic provisioning of services, infrastructure as software, CI-CD pipelines, etc.

Respond: The SRE team shall be on rotational on-call and respond to incidents, alerts, and infrastructure support requests.

Maintain: Develop an early warning system that allows for reliable and quick maintenance tasks, such as infrastructure upgrades, version migrations, and similar.

Plan: Develop state of art monitoring and alerting systems that predict capacity needs and usage patterns. Plan for new service rollouts, expansion of existing services, and recommendations of best practices for development teams to optimize their resource consumption.


Who is the right fit for this role?

To excel in this role you will need—

Empathy: We operate with a profoundly consultative approach. Asking relevant questions to understand needs and motivations is critical.

● Strong written and oral communication skills with a keen analytical mind: You will also need to break-down complex scenarios across customers and deployments to make recommendations.

● In this role, you’ll be working mostly with the below tech, but not limited to the same—

● Linux systems and networking

● Docker and Kubernetes

● Terraform—For all our infrastructure

● AWS

● Python and Bash for scripting

● ELK Stack

● Grafana Observability Stack

● GitLab for SCM and CI/CD
