Key Responsibilities
CMDB Design & Architecture
Design and maintain CMDB data model aligned with ServiceNow Common Service Data Model (CSDM).
Define CI classes, relationships, attributes, and lifecycle states.
Ensure CMDB architecture supports ITSM, ITOM, HRSD, SecOps, and other platform use cases
CMDB Implementation & Configuration
Configure CI classes, identification and reconciliation rules
- Implement CMDB population strategies using:
- Discovery
- Service Mapping
- Integrations (LDAP, SCCM, Tanium, cloud providers, etc.)
- Import Sets and Transform Maps
- Configure CI lifecycle workflows and automation.
CMDB Governance & Data Quality
- Establish and enforce CMDB governance framework.
- Define policies for CI creation, updates, and retirement.
- Monitor and improve CMDB health using:
- CMDB Health Dashboards
- Completeness, Correctness, and Compliance metrics
Drive continuous data quality improvements.
Integrations & Data Sources
- Design CMDB integrations with third‑party systems.
- Work with integration teams on data mapping, reconciliation, and error handling.
Ensure proper use of MID Servers and credential management
ITSM & ITOM Alignment
- Support Incident, Change, Problem, and Request Management with accurate CI data.
- Enable impact analysis and dependency mapping for Change and Major Incidents.
Collaborate with ITOM teams on Discovery and Service Mapping strategies.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with ITSM, ITOM, Security, Infrastructure, and Application teams.
- Act as CMDB advisor to architects, developers, and process owners.
- Provide CMDB best‑practice guidance to clients and internal teams.
Documentation & Support
- Create and maintain CMDB technical documentation and design artifacts.
- Support audits, reviews, and compliance activities.
- Provide L3 support for CMDB‑related issues.
Required Skills & Experience
Mandatory
- 7+ years of ServiceNow experience with strong CMDB focus
- Deep understanding of:
- CMDB & CSDM
- CI relationships and lifecycle management
- Identification & Reconciliation Engine (IRE)
- Hands‑on experience with:
- Discovery and Service Mapping
- Import Sets and Transform Maps
- CMDB Health Dashboard
- Strong understanding of ITIL processes
Technical Skills
- ServiceNow scripting (Business Rules, Script Includes – CMDB context)
- REST/SOAP integrations (CMDB data sources)
- MID Server configuration and troubleshooting
- SQL / data analysis skills (preferred)
Certifications (Preferred)
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)
- ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist – CMDB
- ServiceNow ITOM Discovery / Service Mapping (preferred)
- ITIL Foundation or higher
