Ampton Energy is looking for a Field Engineer to handle installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of inverter and lithium-ion battery systems at customer sites.
Responsibilities
- Install, commission, and service lithium-ion battery packs, BMS units, and inverters/PCS in the field
- Diagnose faults across inverter, battery, and integration points (AC/DC coupling, communication protocols, charge/discharge behaviour)
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and safety checks on deployed systems
- Troubleshoot wiring, connectors, BMS, and inverter control/firmware issues on-site
- Follow lithium-ion safety protocols (handling, thermal runaway response, transport compliance) and electrical safety standards for inverter work
- Document service visits, test readings, configuration changes, and repair actions
- Communicate clearly with clients on-site — explain issues, work performed, and next steps in plain, non-technical language when needed
- Understand and address client requirements accurately, managing expectations around timelines and outcomes
- Coordinate with customers and internal engineering/vendor teams on issue resolution, ensuring client satisfaction throughout the service process
- Follow up as needed to confirm the client's issue is fully resolved and they're satisfied with the outcome
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with lithium-ion battery systems (LFP/NMC preferred) and inverters/PCS.
- Experience with hybrid (solar) inverter systems. A minimum of 2 years of site experience preferred
- Familiarity with BMS diagnostics, cell balancing, and inverter commissioning/configuration
- Understanding of AC/DC electrical systems and relevant safety codes
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable interfacing directly with clients
- Comfortable working independently at customer sites, including physically demanding conditions
- Valid driver's license; willingness to travel for field assignments
- Prior experience in marine, industrial, or EV battery/inverter applications a plus
