Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Server & Storage Support Engineer based in Vadodara. The engineer will be responsible for deploying, maintaining, and supporting server, storage, and virtualization infrastructure across client environments. This includes rack and tower servers from Dell (PowerEdge) and HPE (ProLiant), SAN/NAS storage platforms, hyperconverged solutions (Dell VxRail, HPE SimpliVity/dHCI), and VMware/Hyper-V virtualization. The role covers installation, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, patching, and lifecycle management, with a focus on ensuring high availability, performance, and data integrity. The engineer will also provide technical support to clients, document configurations, and coordinate with OEM support (Dell, HPE, VMware, Microsoft) for escalations.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain physical servers from Dell (PowerEdge) and HPE (ProLiant), including iDRAC and iLO management.
- Deploy and support storage systems: Dell PowerStore/Unity/ME series, HPE MSA/Nimble/Alletra, and general SAN/NAS (iSCSI, Fibre Channel, RAID).
- Deploy, configure, and support virtualization environments using VMware vSphere/ESXi/vCenter and/or Microsoft Hyper-V.
- Support hyperconverged infrastructure (Dell VxRail, HPE SimpliVity/dHCI) including lifecycle and firmware management.
- Perform firmware/BIOS updates, driver maintenance, and OS patching across Windows Server and Linux.
- Troubleshoot server, storage, virtualization, and connectivity issues, including root-cause analysis.
- Configure and verify backup, replication, and disaster-recovery solutions (e.g., Veeam).
- Monitor system health, capacity, and performance; apply security hardening and ensure reliability.
- Maintain documentation, asset records, and as-built configurations; raise and track OEM support cases.
- Provide on-site and remote technical support to clients and liaise with internal teams.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience supporting server and storage infrastructure and troubleshooting hardware/OS-level issues.
- Familiarity with Dell PowerEdge and/or HPE ProLiant server platforms, including out-of-band management (iDRAC, iLO).
- Working knowledge of virtualization (VMware vSphere/ESXi, vCenter, or Hyper-V); exposure to HCI (VxRail, SimpliVity) is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Linux administration.
- Understanding of storage technologies (SAN, NAS, iSCSI, Fibre Channel, RAID) and backup/DR practices.
- Understanding of network and security fundamentals (VLANs, firewalls, access control).
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and clients.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Dell Technologies, HPE ASE/Master ASE, VMware VCP-DCV, Microsoft Azure Administrator, CompTIA Server+) are an advantage.
- Academic background in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
