Maintenance / Janitorial / Grounds Keeper

JOB GOAL: To maintain the grounds, janitorial and facilities in a manner that assists the building principal so that s/he may devote maximum attention to educational concerns and administration.  To provide janitorial services to students, staff and parents that will assist in creating an efficient, comfortable environment in which to learn, play, and develop.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Check and correct any cleaning omissions that the night crew may have made.
• Daily shining of door glass, water fountains and door fixture hardware.
• Touch up paint when as minor and/or major scratches and accidents occur (within 24 hours of event).
• Repair and or replace any damaged ceiling tiles, lights, or hardware as needed.
• Daily blowing of dust and debris from walkways and play areas.
• Respond to work orders according to plan.
• Order and maintain supplies needed to ensure adequate supplies are present on site.
• Check and assist in the maintaining of sprinkler system and plants.
• Cut and trim lawns when needed.
• Assist in bringing cafeteria tables out and putting tables away.
• Set up and break down equipment for special events.
• Remove trash and recycled materials as needed.
• Maintain and inventory storage spaces at the school.
• Assist nurse with hazardous waste disposal as needed.
• Maintain levels of bathroom supplies and check on replacement needs during the day.
• Perform checks of room thermostats to ensure policy is being followed.
• Ensure that teachers are supported in their efforts to keep their rooms clean (i.e. emergency cleanups).
• Provide prompt and courteous support to the staff.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED required
• Aptitude for the work to be performed and a desire for excellence.
• Ability to communicate effectively with administration and teachers.
• IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card required
• Knowledge and skills that fit the maintenance needs of the school.
