Job details:
UK Medical Journal · Remote · Full-time
SEO, AEO & AI Content Specialist
₹25,000–35,000/month · Remote · 2+ years experience
UK Medical Journal is an upcoming peer-reviewed digital publication being built around a simple idea:
Patients ask. Doctors answer.
We are building an AI-powered healthcare publishing platform designed to publish expert-led interviews with the UK's leading private healthcare clinicians — and cross-pollinate those interviews into thousands of high-quality, SEO and AEO-optimised articles across every major medical specialty.
The platform is currently in its build phase and is scheduled to launch within the next three months.
We are building toward 2,500+ published articles by month six post-launch.
This remote role sits at the heart of that operation — helping build the research, optimisation, and publishing pipeline that makes it happen from the ground up.
This role is for someone who is fast at deep SEO execution, can rank websites within 8-12 weeks, understands that the future of search is AI-generated answers — and knows how to position content to win in both traditional and generative search environments.
Who This Role Is For
You have 2+ years of real SEO experience — enough to know what good looks like, move without needing to be walked through every step, and take ownership of outcomes rather than just tasks.
You are at the stage in your career where hard work does not scare you. You are ready to execute at pace, absorb fast, and grow into something bigger than where you started.
You are looking for a role that stretches you and rewards the effort you put in.
You are excited by AI — and learning how to build agents and producing work at a scale and quality that was not possible before.
This is a high-commitment launch-phase role. We work six days a week and move at pace.
If that suits where you are right now in your career, this is an environment where you will grow faster than almost anywhere else.
What You Will Own
SEO and AEO Research
Keyword and patient question research using Semrush.
Structuring content to rank in Google and appear in AI-generated answers — Perplexity, ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews.
Expert Interview Content Pipeline
Transforming expert-led clinician interviews into multiple SEO and AEO-optimised content formats — including patient-question articles, specialty explainers, comparison pieces, insight breakdowns, and search-focused educational content.
Identifying strong search opportunities and cross-pollinating valuable insights from different clinicians into highly structured, search-optimised articles.
Using AI tools to accelerate research, structuring, formatting, optimisation, and content workflows — while ensuring the final output remains grounded in real expert insight and editorial quality.
On-Page Optimisation and CMS Publishing
Publishing 15+ articles per day with correct metadata, internal linking, structured data, and clinic backlinks.
Maintaining content architecture as the catalogue scales to 1,000 and beyond.
Technical SEO and Performance Tracking
Monitoring Google Search Console for indexing, crawlability, and ranking movements.
Flagging and resolving issues before they compound.
Weekly performance reporting.
Competitor and SERP Analysis
Using Firecrawl and Semrush to analyse what is ranking per specialty and why.
Feeding insights back into the content brief pipeline so every article is built to outrank what is already live.
What We Are Looking For
- 2+ years of hands-on SEO experience — keyword research, on-page, technical, internal linking, backlinking
- Practical experience using AI tools — Claude, ChatGPT, or similar — for content generation, review, and optimisation
- Understanding of AEO — how to structure content so it appears in AI-generated answers, not just blue links
- Comfort working at high volume — this pipeline publishes 15+ articles per day. You need systems thinking, not just task thinking
- Strong written English — you will be reviewing and improving AI content and must be able to spot what is wrong
- High ownership, low ego — you take feedback, refine your work, and care more about the output being right than being right about the output
Good To Have
- Experience with Semrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, Google Search Console
- Familiarity with Firecrawl or web scraping tools for competitive content analysis
- Experience on large-scale content sites — 500+ articles, topic cluster architecture
- Google Ads experience — useful as the project scales into paid distribution
- Interest in or background in health, science, or medical content
Core Tools
- Semrush
- Ahrefs
- Firecrawl
- Claude AI
- Claude Batch API
- Google Search Console
- Google Analytics
- Screaming Frog
- Notion / ClickUp
This Role Is Not For You If
- You rely on grey-hat tactics, keyword stuffing, or shortcut-driven SEO
- You treat AI as a shortcut rather than a tool that requires judgment and quality control
- You want to manage small, slow content programmes — this pipeline moves fast and scales hard
- You are looking for a comfortable, steady role — this is a build phase and it will demand a lot
- You struggle with accountability, independent execution, or working across time zones
Why This Role Is Worth It
You will work inside one of the most ambitious AI-powered content operations being built in UK healthcare right now.
The pipeline you manage will produce thousands of articles, rank for hundreds of patient search queries, and be read by patients making real healthcare decisions.
You will gain hands-on experience with Claude Batch API, Firecrawl, AEO optimisation, and large-scale content architecture — skills that are genuinely rare and increasingly valuable in the market.
There are annual performance reviews and a bonus structure tied to individual performance and revenue growth. For the right person, compensation and responsibility grow together.
UK Medical Journal is one of several ventures in a connected healthcare ecosystem.
High performers will have the opportunity to take on broader responsibility as the operation scales — often faster than they expect.
