Overview
You will lead WordPress development for client and internal marketing websites, focusing on building scalable, high-performance, and secure digital experiences. This role balances custom theme development with technical SEO and security to support high-volume marketing campaigns.
Rate:
- Equivalent of USD 1522/month in the applicant's local currency
Schedule:
- Monday-Friday, 8am - 5pm EST or 9am - 6pm EST (Indianapolis, IN time zone)

Responsibilities
- Expert Development: Lead custom theme (Block/Classic) and plugin development using WordPress Core, PHP (OOP), and ACF.
- Front-End Excellence: Translate Figma designs into pixel-perfect, responsive builds using modern CSS and JS.
- Optimization: Own Core Web Vitals, technical SEO (Schema/Crawlability), and WCAG accessibility standards.
- Security & Stability: Implement security best practices, vulnerability monitoring, and robust backup/rollback strategies.
- DevOps: Manage Git-based workflows, local environments (Docker), and deployment across platforms like WP Engine or Kinsta.
- Leadership: Drive architectural decisions, perform code reviews, and document technical standards for the team.
Requirements
- Experience: 5+ years of professional WordPress development, preferably in an agency environment.
- Backend: Advanced PHP, REST API, and dependency management (Composer).
- Marketing Focus: Proven success supporting high-traffic sites, CRO layouts, and complex campaign builds.
- Ownership: Ability to manage projects end-to-end, balancing rapid deployment with long-term maintainability.
- Preferred Skills: Webflow, Headless WordPress, or Multilingual (WPML) experience; Familiarity with GA4, GTM, and A/B testing tools; Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and multisite installations.
