About the Role:
We are looking for a skilled oriented Validation Engineer with hands-on experience in Smart Metering and a strong understanding of IS, CBIP, IEC and other regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will be responsible for validating electricity meters, communication modules and software solutions to ensure product reliability, accuracy and market readiness.
Key Result Areas (KRAs):
- Prepare and execute Validation Test plans for Smart Meters.
- Perform validation testing in compliance with relevant standards such as IS 16444 (Part 1 & 2), IS 15959 (Part 1, 2 & 3) and CEA regulations and other relevant standards.
- Validate all functionalities of Smart Meter.
- Work closely with hardware, firmware, QA and certification teams.
- Test interoperability and communication using protocols like DLMS/COSEM, Modbus, and MQTT over mediums like RF, GPRS/4G, PLC and Ethernet.
- Prepare comprehensive test reports, maintain traceability, and support BIS/Type Test.
- Assist in debugging issues and supporting root cause analysis during pre- and post-certification stages.
- Contribute to automation of validation processes using scripting tools or platforms.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Diploma or Degree in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation engineering.
- Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience in Validation/Testing of Smart Energy meters, with a focus on Indian market requirements.
- In-depth knowledge of Indian standards:
- Experience with DLMS/COSEM protocol testing and tools (e.g., Gurux, Kalkitech tools).
- Proficient in documenting validation procedures, creating traceability matrices and compliance reports.
- Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to AMI systems, HES, MDMS and utility integration testing.
- Experience of NPI Validation and Field Testing.
- Basic scripting knowledge in Python, Shell or LabVIEW for test automation.
