We serve clients across several US states, specializing in tax preparation, bookkeeping, payroll, and tax planning. As we expand our offshore operations in Hyderabad, we are looking for dedicated accounting professionals to join our team and grow with us.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Sr. Accountant based at our Hyderabad office. You will be the primary owner of monthly close for a portfolio of US-based clients – supervising staff accountants, reviewing categorization and reconciliations, finalizing month-end financials, overseeing payroll, and ensuring books are tax-ready. You will be a key technical leader on our Hyderabad team, working directly with the firm's Houston headquarters and clients across multiple US states.
Key Responsibilities
• Own end-to-end monthly close for a portfolio of clients: review staff-prepared categorizations and reconciliations, post adjusting and accrual entries, and finalize P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow.
• Review and approve A/R aging, A/P aging, and 1099 vendor setup; resolve escalated client issues.
• Manage and review US payroll cycles (bi-weekly / semi-monthly / monthly) in ADP, Gusto, or Paychex – gross-to-net, garnishments, benefits deductions, and reconciliation to GL.
• Oversee timely filing of US federal and state payroll taxes (Forms 941, 940, state SUI) and year-end deliverables (W-2, 1099).
• Prepare monthly financial packages and variance commentary for clients; lead the monthly client review call when assigned.
• Coordinate with the US Tax team to ensure books support clean preparation of 1040, 1065, 1120-S, and 1120 returns.
• Supervise, train, and mentor Staff Accountants – review work, give actionable feedback, and develop the team's technical depth.
• Drive process improvements: standardize chart of accounts, build close checklists, document SOPs, and improve quality metrics across the portfolio.
Mandatory Qualifications
• Software: Advanced QuickBooks Online proficiency is mandatory – multi-entity setups, custom reporting, app integrations, and clean-up engagements.
• Accounting Foundation: Strong US GAAP knowledge, comfortable with accruals, prepaid amortization, fixed assets, and book-to-tax differences.
• Experience: 4–7+ years in US accounting / bookkeeping, including at least 2 years in a review or supervisory capacity.
• Education: CA / CMA (Inter or Final), M.Com, or MBA (Finance). CPA candidate or EA status is a strong plus.
• Payroll Mastery: Demonstrated ability to manage end-to-end US payroll cycles in ADP, Gusto, or Paychex, including multi-state payroll tax compliance.
• Workflow: Familiarity with TaxDome for project management; ability to manage multiple client engagements simultaneously to firm SLAs.
• Communication: Exceptional written and verbal English skills; comfortable leading client calls and presenting financials to US business owners.
• Leadership: Track record of reviewing junior work, mentoring staff, and driving process improvements.
• Shift: Permanent commitment to the 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM IST shift.
