This role focuses on maintaining system availability, proactive monitoring, alert management, incident response, and continuous operational improvement across AWS and/or GCP platforms.
The ideal candidate has strong Linux administration experience (Red Hat & Amazon Linux), hands-on expertise with cloud infrastructure, and a proactive approach to infrastructure monitoring and alert optimization.
What You Will Get To Do
Cloud Operations (AWS)
- Provide operational support for environments hosted in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Monitor health and availability of cloud resources including compute, storage, networking, and IAM.
- Manage cloud incidents, service degradations, and outages to ensure SLA adherence.
- Execute routine operational tasks such as backup validation, scaling activities, patch coordination, and system health checks.
- Maintain IAM access controls and enforce operational security standards.
- Leverage AWS Systems Manager (SSM) for automated patch management, session management, configuration compliance, and secure remote administration of EC2 instances.
- Utilize SSM Session Manager to enable secure, auditable, and keyless access to Linux servers without exposing inbound SSH ports.
- Implement and manage Just-In-Time Network Access (JITNA) controls to provide time-bound, approval-based access to production resources.
- Collaborate with security teams to enforce least-privilege access models using IAM policies integrated with SSM and JIT workflows.
- Monitor and audit operational access activities to ensure compliance and security governance standards are maintained.
Linux Operations (RHEL & Amazon Linux)
- Administer and support Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Amazon Linux servers across production and non-production environments.
- Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, and log analysis.
- Conduct OS patching, vulnerability remediation, and security hardening within our Big Fix platform.
- Troubleshoot system-level issues including CPU, memory, disk I/O, networking, and services.
- Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
Monitoring & Alert Management
- Administer and optimize monitoring tools such as: Amazon CloudWatch, Google Cloud Monitoring, Coralogix.
- Configure, maintain, and continuously tune infrastructure and application alerts.
- Reduce false positives and alert fatigue through threshold optimization and alert rationalization.
- Develop dashboards to provide real-time visibility into infrastructure health and performance metrics.
- Participate in 24/7 monitoring and on-call rotation.
Incident & Problem Management
- Respond to production incidents and coordinate cross-team resolution efforts.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and document findings.
- Drive post-incident reviews and implement preventive and corrective actions.
- Escalate complex issues appropriately to engineering teams or vendors.
Operational Governance & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and operational policies.
- Support internal and external audits related to infrastructure and monitoring controls.
- Maintain backup validation processes and disaster recovery operational readiness.
