Senior System Engineer – IBM MQ Location: Hyderabad, Telangana, India Department: Global Technology Services Reports To: GCC Head of Midrange Support Grade (Hay): 16
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
ArcelorMittal is looking for a Senior System Engineer – IBM MQ with more than 8 years of experience to support, operate, and evolve enterprise-grade messaging platforms, primarily IBM MQ, within complex and critical environments.
The role focuses on design, build, run and on-call support of messaging solutions supporting ArcelorMittal Flat Europe Transversal Applications, ensuring reliability, performance, security, and SLA compliance.
In scope technologies
- Messaging: IBM MQ Series
- Protocols: MQ, MQI, AMQP, MQTT
- Monitoring: ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain IBM MQ environments across DEV, QA, and PROD
- Administer queue managers, queues, channels, listeners, clusters, and security objects
- Monitor MQ platforms and take proactive actions to ensure SLA adherence
- Analyse and resolve L2/L3 incidents, including root cause analysis and long-term fixes
- Demonstrate an end-to-end troubleshooting mindset, with the ability to analyze and resolve issues across all components of messaging
- Support application teams with MQ design, integration, and performance tuning
- Manage changes, enhancements, and onboarding of new messaging flows
- Implement and maintain MQ security (SSL/TLS, certificates, authentication, authorization)
- Participate in 24/7 on-call support (weekly rotation)

REQUIRED TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
- Strong expertise in IBM MQ administration (L3 level)
- Experience with MQ multi instance
- Hands-on with Omegamon for MQ or equivalent monitoring tools
- Solid understanding of MQ security (certificates, TLS, CHLAUTH, OAM)
- Experience with Linux/Unix and Windows Server , and Mainframe environments
- Ability to develop scripts for automation, replay and monitoring.
- Experience using Elastic Stack (ELK) for monitoring and alerting
- Ability to troubleshoot performance, connectivity, and message flow issues
PREFERRED TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
- Knowledge of RabbitMQ is a plus
- Familiarity with ELK solution (including administration, not only usage)
- Basic knowledge of mainframe MQ (z/OS) is a plus
- Understanding of Kubernetes is a strong asset
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in IT / Computer Science (Master’s is a plus)
- Minimum 8 years of experience in IT infrastructure
- Mandatory L3 experience in large-scale IBM MQ environments
- Experience in multi-environment and multi-platform landscapes
- Prior experience in 24/7 production support and on-call duty
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Comfortable working in global, multicultural teams
