Civil / Structural Design Lead – Solar PV & Power Infrastructure
We are looking for an experienced Civil / Structural Design Lead to review and guide engineering deliverables for Solar PV Power Plants, Substations, Switchyards, AIS/GIS Buildings, and Power Distribution Projects. This role requires strong design-review capability, EPC exposure, multi-discipline coordination, and the ability to lead engineers and modelers while maintaining high-quality, schedule-driven delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Review civil and structural engineering deliverables for solar plants, substations, switchyards, and power infrastructure projects.
- Check drawings, design calculations, BOQ, BBS, BOM, and vendor documents.
- Validate deliverables for safety, standards, specifications, constructability, feasibility, and quality.
- Review designs for control rooms, inverter rooms, transformer foundations, equipment foundations, roads, drainage, grading, steel structures, and buildings.
- Support the full engineering cycle from pre-bid engineering to commissioning and O&M.
- Lead and guide design engineers, draughts persons, and BIM modelers.
- Review 3D models and drawings using Navisworks, Revit, and AutoCAD.
- Coordinate with Electrical, Instrumentation, MEP, Operations, Site, Vendors, and Supply Chain teams.
- Support technical clarification for internal teams, vendors, clients, and site execution teams.
- Review vendor pre-award technical evaluations and support procurement decisions.
- Collect and review project inputs such as soil reports, topo surveys, boundary coordinates, GA drawings, and vendor inputs.
- Estimate required engineering man-hours for design and review activities.
- Ensure engineering deliverables are submitted on time and meet client/ISO quality standards.
- Validate final deliverables before dispatching them to the customer for approval.
Requirements
- B.E. / B.Tech in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- 8–10 years of experience in civil/structural design and review.
- Must have experience in Solar PV Power Plants, Power Distribution Projects, AIS Substations, GIS Buildings, and Substations from 66kV to 765kV.
- Strong experience in reviewing civil and structural design deliverables.
- Good understanding of geotechnical inputs, soil reports, foundations, grading, roads, and drainage design.
- Strong knowledge of design codes including IS, AISC, Dubai Codes, and EN Standards.
- Ability to review engineering deliverables for technical accuracy, safety, EHS, constructability, and compliance.
- Hands-on working knowledge of Navisworks, Revit, and AutoCAD.
- Ability to coordinate across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Strong leadership skills to guide engineers, draughts persons, and modelers.
- Ability to manage multiple deliverables under tight project timelines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Work experience in an EPC environment.
- Experience working on large-scale solar, substation, switchyard, and power infrastructure projects.
- Prior experience as a Lead Engineer, Lead Checker, or Design Reviewer.
- Experience reviewing vendor engineering documents for civil and structural scope.
- Strong understanding of contractual technical requirements and client specifications.
- Experience supporting site teams during construction, commissioning, and O&M stages.
