Overview
We are hiring a Senior SQL and Reporting Analyst to improve reporting accuracy, data reliability, and business reporting support across the company.
This role requires strong SQL, advanced Excel, practical data analysis, and the ability to investigate data issues across systems. The candidate will work closely with engineering, operations, finance, and business teams to create accurate reports, support recurring and ad hoc requests, and reduce dependency on software engineers for routine reporting needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and improve business reports, data extracts, and operational reporting outputs.
- Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries for reporting, analysis, and data validation.
- Investigate data inconsistencies across source systems, reports, dashboards, and exported files.
- Perform data reconciliation, exception analysis, and root cause investigation for reporting issues.
- Support recurring and ad hoc reporting requests with clear priorities and turnaround timelines.
- Build reusable SQL scripts, reporting views, data checks, and standard report templates.
- Partner with engineering teams to understand data flows, schemas, dependencies, and system behavior.
- Collaborate with business and operations teams to understand reporting requirements and explain data outcomes clearly.
- Document reporting logic, data definitions, assumptions, validation rules, and known limitations.
- Improve reporting processes so routine reporting, extracts, and data correction activities do not depend only on software engineers.
Required Skills
- Strong SQL with hands on experience in joins, aggregations, window functions, query tuning, indexing concepts, and execution plan analysis.
- Strong data debugging ability with experience finding gaps between expected and actual results.
- Advanced Excel including pivot tables, lookups, data validation, formulas, and reconciliation support.
- Experience working with large transactional or operational datasets.
- Ability to convert business questions into SQL queries, reports, and explainable outputs.
- Understanding of relational databases, data models, source tables, reporting layers, and data quality checks.
- Clear communication with technical and non technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently on ambiguous data problems and bring structure to reporting requests.
Good to Have
- Power BI, Tableau, SSRS, or similar reporting and visualization tools.
- Basic scripting knowledge in Python or another language for data preparation and automation.
- Experience with APIs, data imports, exports, flat files, or scheduled reporting workflows.
- Experience in finance, benefits, healthcare, insurance, payroll, ecommerce, or other transaction heavy domains.
- Exposure to Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, or similar cloud data services.

Qualifications
- B.Tech, B.E., MCA, BCA, M.Tech, MBA Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or equivalent practical experience.
- 4 to 8 years of experience in SQL heavy reporting, data analysis, business reporting, MIS, BI, or data operations roles.
