Senior Specialist, Back-End Engineer

We’re seeking a future team member for the role of
Senior Specialist, Back-End Engineer to join our
Corporate Engineering team. This role is located in
PUNE
In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
- Develop and support end-to-end application solutions across front-end, middle-tier, and backend systems.
- Build modern, reusable, and responsive UI components while developing scalable backend services and APIs.
- Translate business requirements into technical designs and high-quality code across the full application stack.
- Integrate applications with databases, internal platforms, APIs, and third-party services.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, and create test cases to ensure software quality and reliability.
- Support software deployment, production stability, issue resolution, and platform enhancements in line with change management controls.
- Apply secure coding standards and incorporate security, privacy, and compliance requirements into solution design and development.
- Contribute to code reviews, testing, automation, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that are scalable, resilient, and aligned to user and business needs.
- Comply with BNY’s standard development methodology.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
- 8+ years of software development experience, with strong hands-on expertise in backend technologies including Core Java, Spring Boot, REST API development, and microservices architecture.
- Experience with front-end technologies including Angular, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with the ability to build responsive and intuitive user interfaces.
- Strong technical credentials and deep hands-on expertise in designing, building, and delivering complex, scalable, and distributed software systems.
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, and easily refactorable code, supported by robust unit testing to ensure reliability and minimize regression risk.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for designing solutions for performance, scalability, and resilience.
- Experience with messaging technologies, preferably IBM MQ.
- Strong experience with SQL, stored procedures, and transaction management.
- Experience applying best practices across solution design, development, testing, deployment, and release management.
- Experience designing, building, testing, and managing APIs for system-to-system and inter-process communication.
- Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, or similar; knowledge of NoSQL databases is preferred.
- Experience leveraging AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Windsurf, or similar LLM-based assistants to improve development productivity across coding, debugging, code review, and documentation.
- Experience working within SDLC frameworks and CI/CD pipeline best practices.
- Experience with Angular and UI screen development preferred.
- Experience with Linux scripting preferred.
- Good understanding of monitoring and observability tools such as AppDynamics, Splunk, and Moogsoft.
- Demonstrated willingness to adopt and apply AI-first software development practices.
- Experience in the securities or financial services industry is a strong plus.
