We combine deep legal expertise with AI-driven automation to make dispute resolution faster, fairer, and more efficient.
We are looking for a hands-on Tech Lead who can own our backend stack, lead a small but high-calibre engineering team, and drive innovation in LegalTech. You will be responsible not only for building and scaling systems, but also for optimizing our GCP cloud infrastructure and making existing services more robust, efficient, and cost-effective.
What you'll do:
- At least 8 years of professional software development experience.
- At least 6 years of experience with Python & Django.
- Architect, design, and implement scalable, secure backend services and APIs using Python/Django.
- Improve existing systems for performance, reliability, and maintainability, including refactoring legacy components where needed.
- Own and optimize our GCP infrastructure (compute, storage, networking, security, observability) for reliability, performance, and cost.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, monitoring, logging, and alerting.
- Identify and eliminate performance bottlenecks across application code, databases, and cloud configuration; drive ongoing performance tuning.
- Build and enhance search and retrieval systems, including ranking models, vector/semantic search, and document intelligence workflows.
- Apply NLP techniques (tokenization, stopword removal, lemmatization, embeddings, etc.) to real-world legal and grievance workflows.
- Collaborate on computer vision use cases such as document/object detection using architectures like YOLO or Faster R‑CNN.
What we're looking for:
- 7+ years of professional software development experience, including 5+ years with Python and Django in production environments.
- Strong experience designing and scaling backend architectures for high‑availability SaaS products.
- Proficiency in NLP fundamentals and practical experience applying them in production systems.
- Exposure to computer vision concepts and modern object detection architectures (e.g., YOLO, Faster R‑CNN).
- Hands-on experience with search, ranking, vector/semantic search, or similar retrieval systems.
- Experience with multiple databases (e.g., PostgreSQL/MySQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, or vector databases).
- Solid experience managing and optimizing workloads on GCP (or similar clouds), including performance and cost optimization.
- Familiarity with CI/CD, containerization (Docker), and modern DevOps practices.
- Passion for LegalTech and using technology to improve access to justice or compliance-driven workflows (prior LegalTech/startup experience is a big plus).
