Senior Software Engineer
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team with strong expertise in building responsive, high-performance web applications and the composable, headless architectures that power them. This role is ideal for an engineer who loves crafting seamless user experiences while also managing the integrations, APIs, and content systems that sit behind them. You'll collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver features that are both visually engaging and technically robust. You will work as part of a team that has deep experience delivering world-class technologies for Fortune 500 companies across both greenfield builds and ongoing managed services engagements. Are you excited to build and maintain modern websites on cutting-edge composable stacks? Do you enjoy working on a complex and interesting mix of projects? If so, you may be an outstanding fit for this job!
What you'll do:
- Build modern, scalable, interactive websites using Next.js, React, and cloud hosting platforms such as Vercel, with a strong focus on performance, accessibility, and composable frontend architecture.
- Provide technical guidance across functions, like explaining the feasibility of a new feature to our UX team.
- Collaborate with other Senior Engineers to build and maintain advanced dynamic web applications based on headless and composable digital stacks.
- Work within managed services engagements — supporting live production environments through incident triage and resolution, break-fix work, and incremental enhancements within established patterns.
- Collaborate with our internal teams to design, develop, test, and troubleshoot advanced, accessible, and W3C-compliant data-driven web applications, including integration with headless CMS platforms, API orchestration layers, and third-party services.
- Apply programming standard methodologies and best practices, such as: specification design/review documentation, object oriented development, in-line comments to keep implementations clean and scalable.
- Work in an agile, rapid development and prototyping environment.
- Collaborate with design and other departments to clarify requirements, explore implementation options and provide feedback.
- Collaborate with the QA team in the design and implementation of test plans, resolving any issues and ensuring software quality.
- Provide application support including problem research, analysis, and resolution.
- Provide coaching and guidance to more junior team members.
- Work with clients on post-launch improvements and enhancements.
- Work with teams from multiple geographic locations, including nearshore and offshore.
What we'd like to see:
We are looking for someone with serious development chops who loves being a part of large-scale web projects and being exposed to an ever-changing set of clients and technologies. You will also need to have:
- 5+ years of experience on a development team deploying agile methodologies, collaborating with technologists, creatives, project managers, and strategists.
- Deep, hands-on expertise in Next.js and React, including SSG, ISR, and the Vercel deployment model.
- Strong expertise in JavaScript (ES202x) and TypeScript.
- Proven experience building and integrating with headless CMS platforms — Kontent.ai experience is a strong advantage; experience with any modern headless platform (Contentful, Contentstack, Sanity, Optimizely, etc.) is acceptable.
- Experience working with an API orchestration, middleware, or integration layer — Conscia experience is a bonus; equivalent experience with similar integration platforms, function-as-a-service patterns, or BFF architectures is welcome.
- Deep understanding and hands-on experience designing and building RESTful APIs and GraphQL services from the ground up, as well as connecting with them.
- Proficient in modern styling solutions (CSS3, Sass, TailwindCSS).
- Strong knowledge of design tokens and scalable styling architectures, focused on composable architectures, Storybook handling, and design system development.
- Experience with modern bundlers: Webpack, Vite, Turbopack.
- Experience with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD tooling for automated builds, testing, and deployments. Familiarity with CDN/edge deployments (Vercel, Netlify, Cloudflare) preferred.
- Proficiency with both SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB) database design and management.
- Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, including core services (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, Cloud Functions).
- In-depth knowledge of WCAG, ARIA, and inclusive design principles. Comfortable embedding accessibility standards into design systems and component libraries.
- Experienced with performance profiling, Lighthouse audits, and Core Web Vitals optimization.
- Experience working within a fast-paced, iterative development environment.
- Experience working within a collaborative environment, particularly with QA analysts, UX and Visual designers, and business analysts.
- A BS or BA in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience and certifications.
Bonus Skills:
- Experience with multi-language/i18n implementations in Next.js or similar frameworks.
- Strong grasp of frontend architecture patterns (modular design, component-driven development, micro-frontends, monorepos).
- Experience collaborating with Figma or similar design tools is a plus.
- Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation is a strong plus.
- Solid understanding of authentication and authorization protocols like OAuth 2.0 and JWT.
