About the Role
We are looking for a strong backend engineer who enjoys working on complex integrations, data synchronization, ETL pipelines, and distributed backend workflows. You will work on systems that connect Emitrr with external platforms and ensure that data such as customers, appointments, contacts, and other business information is reliably synchronized across systems. This role involves building robust ETL processes, integration pipelines, scheduled workflows, and backend services that can handle large volumes of data while maintaining reliability and consistency. You will work closely with Product and Engineering teams to design scalable solutions and take ownership of systems from development through production.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain backend integrations with third-party platforms and APIs.
- Design and develop reliable data synchronization pipelines between Emitrr and external systems.
- Build ETL processes for extracting, transforming, validating, and loading data across systems.
- Work on appointment synchronization and other real-time/near-real-time data flows.
- Develop backend services and APIs using Node.js and JavaScript.
- Design scheduled and event-driven workflows for data processing and customer communication.
- Build infrastructure for scheduled campaigns and automated backend workflows.
- Develop and maintain data pipelines using Apache Airflow.
- Work with Argo CD and modern deployment workflows to ship backend services reliably.
- Monitor pipeline and integration health, identify failures, and build mechanisms for retries, recovery, and error handling.
- Debug data inconsistencies and integration failures across multiple systems.
- Work on improving the scalability, reliability, observability, and performance of existing ETL and integration infrastructure.
- Collaborate with product, frontend, and other engineering teams to build end-to-end solutions.
- Own projects from architecture → development → testing → deployment → monitoring → production support.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of backend software engineering experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Node.js and JavaScript.
- Strong understanding of backend architecture, APIs, asynchronous processing, and distributed systems.
- Experience building third-party integrations and working with external APIs.
- Strong experience with ETL/data pipelines and data synchronization.
- Experience building or maintaining scheduled data processing workflows.
- Hands-on experience with Apache Airflow or similar workflow orchestration tools.
- Experience working with CI/CD and deployment platforms, preferably Argo CD.
- Strong understanding of databases, data modeling, SQL, and data consistency.
- Experience troubleshooting production issues across backend services and data pipelines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to independently own complex engineering problems.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment with high ownership.
Required Skills
- Experience working with ATS, CRM, scheduling, healthcare, or SaaS integrations.
- Experience with appointment/calendar synchronization.
- Experience with campaign scheduling or messaging workflows.
- Experience with event-driven architectures, queues, or streaming systems.
- Experience with AWS/GCP or other cloud platforms.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, Kafka, or similar technologies.
- Experience with observability, logging, monitoring, and production debugging.
- Experience working with large-scale data synchronization systems.
Preferred Skills
- Build reliable integrations that work seamlessly with external platforms.
- Ensure customer and appointment data stays accurately synchronized across systems.
- Build ETL pipelines that are scalable, observable, and resilient to failures.
- Reduce manual intervention in data processing and integrations through automation.
- Improve the reliability and performance of existing backend workflows.
- Take complete ownership of backend systems and proactively solve problems before they impact customers.
