This role is part of our
Graphic Communications business unit, which serves the global print and packaging industry with ERP and production software designed for commercial printers, packaging manufacturers, promotional and transactional print providers, sign and display manufacturers, and in-plant print operations. Our solutions help customers manage complex production environments, improve operational visibility, and deliver high-quality products efficiently and profitably.
About The Role
Own the AWS production infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions), and end-to-end test suite for MIS_X. Our architecture runs on AWS App Runner (containerised Next.js), RDS PostgreSQL in a private subnet, CloudFront CDN, and Secrets Manager. You’ll Dockerise the app, build, test and monitor the AWS deployment pipeline, write comprehensive E2E tests, and keep production reliable. Claude Code is your force multiplier — it writes IaC and test code well, but you’re the one who audits it for security and correctness.
Key Responsibilities
- Dockerise the Next.js + Prisma application for AWS App Runner deployment
- Provision and manage the AWS environment: App Runner, RDS PostgreSQL (private subnet), CloudFront, Secrets Manager, VPC
- Build the CI/CD pipeline (GitHub Actions): lint → type-check → test → build → deploy
- Write/Review and maintain E2E tests (Playwright) for critical paths: quote → job → schedule → invoice
- Set up staging and production environments with proper environment isolation
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and error tracking (CloudWatch, Sentry)
- Manage database backups, disaster recovery, and migration rollback procedures
- Audit all Claude Code–generated infrastructure code for security gaps and misconfigurations
- Own the OAuth2 integrations in deployment (token refresh, webhook handling, Secrets Manager)
Must-Have Skills
- 4+ years of experience
- AWS App Runner or ECS — containerised application deployment and auto-scaling
- AWS RDS PostgreSQL — provisioning, backups, private subnet networking, security groups
- Docker — multi-stage builds, optimised images for Next.js + Prisma
- CI/CD pipelines — GitHub Actions or equivalent, automated testing + deployment
- VPC networking — private subnets, NAT gateways, security groups, least-privilege IAM
- CloudFront CDN — distribution setup, SSL termination, cache invalidation
- Testing strategy — ability to decide what to test and how; E2E, integration, and smoke tests
- Security auditing — reviewing infrastructure-as-code for misconfigurations, exposed secrets, over-permissive IAM
Nice-to-Have
- Playwright E2E testing experience
- Infrastructure as Code (CDK or Terraform)
- OAuth2 integration flows (Xero, Stripe, etc.)
- Cost optimisation for small-scale AWS (~$50–130/month budget)
- GDPR / UK data protection compliance for SaaS
- Performance testing (SSE, real-time updates, Gantt chart rendering)
A Day in the Life (with Claude Code)
This is what a typical day looks like when working with AI-assisted development:
