Senior Software Developer – MailGuard (Perl)
Location: Bengaluru (On-site), Karnataka, India
GlobalGuard is looking for an experienced Senior Software Developer to lead the design and delivery of core platform capabilities for MailGuard, our cloud-based email security platform.

The Opportunity
As a Senior Software Developer on MailGuard, you will lead the design and implementation of platform features and services while helping strengthen engineering standards across the team. You will work closely with Engineering and Operations teams to ensure secure, reliable production outcomes.
What You Will Do
• Lead the design and implementation of new platform features and services
• Ensure performance, resilience, and cost efficiency across distributed services
• Define best practices for design patterns, testing, and secure coding
• Write clean, well-structured code and maintain existing services
• Improve observability through logging, metrics, and alerting
• Support investigation and resolution of complex production issues
• Contribute to incident response and post-incident improvement actions
• Mentor developers through code reviews and technical guidance
• Communicate clearly with internal teams to support product delivery
What You Will Bring
• Eight or more years of software development experience using languages such as Go, Perl, or Python
• Strong Linux experience and confidence troubleshooting production issues
• Strong design skills across distributed systems and cloud-native architectures
• Experience integrating with open-source technologies such as Postfix, Apache, or Nginx
• Experience with public cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure
• Experience with continuous integration and automation tooling
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
• Working knowledge of containers and cloud services including Docker and cloud functions
• Strong knowledge of databases and caching technologies such as MySQL and Redis
• Understanding of web and email protocols including SMTP, HTTP, DNS, and TLS
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Experience improving observability and operational reliability
• Experience mentoring engineering teams
