Work Style

Role Overview
You’ll work closely with the CTO, owning key parts of the engineering stack. This is a hands-on role with a leadership layer - you’ll write production code daily, contribute to architectural decisions, and help raise the quality bar for the team.
We’re still early, with a live product and a growing codebase. The systems you build and improve will play a meaningful role in how 1Fi scales.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and ship full-stack features across our platform (React/Next.js on the frontend, Node.js/NestJS on the backend)
- Design and optimize the data layer (PostgreSQL, with caching/NoSQL where appropriate)
- Contribute to infrastructure and deployment workflows (cloud, CI/CD, observability), with a focus on reliability
- Maintain high code quality through reviews, reusable patterns, and clear documentation
- Collaborate with the CTO on system design and technical roadmap decisions
- Mentor junior engineers and interns, supporting their growth beyond just PR reviews
Requirements
Must-have:
- 1-5 years of hands-on full-stack experience with TypeScript, Node.js, and React/Next.js
- Strong SQL fundamentals, including experience designing schemas for transactional systems
- Solid understanding of REST APIs, authentication patterns, and backend reliability
- Familiarity with DevOps and deployment workflows (Docker, CI/CD, cloud platforms like AWS/GCP)
- Proven track record of shipping production systems used by real users.
Strong plus:
- Experience in fintech, BFSI, or regulated domains (payments, lending, securities)
- Familiarity with compliance and audit considerations in financial systems
- Prior experience as a founding/early engineer at a startup
