Baker Hughes Completions and Wellbore Intervention is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer. As part of a multidisciplinary team, they will be involved in supporting existing products and developing new and innovative products.
The work will focus on the development of downhole completion tools and production equipment. Most work will involve FEA analysis of completion equipment including liner hangers, packers, valves, screens, sleeves and entire systems. The analyses will aid early development of internal engineering groups’ conceptual designs, finished designs subject to customer acceptance reviews, and operational decisions in the field with existing equipment.
The successful candidate will discover all the clients’ requirements, provide iterative simulations using client feedback, and write comprehensive final reports to both internal clients and external customers.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Plan and conduct research, design, and development of standard engineering assignments.
- Selects engineering techniques to solve problems and make sound design recommendations.
- Assesses results for applicability, validity, and conformance to specifications.
- May be the lead engineer on smaller project with some functional supervision.
- Usually works with minimum supervision, conferring with superior on unusual matters.
- May be assisted by entry or junior level personnel.
- Assists in project planning and review.
- Assignments are broad in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity.
- Assignments are reviewed for overall soundness and adherence to stated objectives.
- Handles special projects as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with 3+ years’ experience with modeling and simulation or master's degree in mechanical engineering and 2+ years’ experience with modeling and simulation or PhD in Mechanical Engineering and 1+yrs experience with modeling and simulation.
- Should have solid understanding and experience of Static, Dynamics, Elastic-plastic and Hyperelastic simulation, fatigue and Fracture Mechanics.
- Minimum 5 years' experience with Commercial FEA software Abaqus/MARC/ANSYS Workbench/Mechanical, and HyperMesh
- Working knowledge of SolidWorks for CAD review and geometry preparation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications/Requirements
- preferred MS Degree or PhD.
- Have a solid understanding of both metallic and polymeric material.
- Experience with Completion tools development and general project management knowledge.
- Design Optimization with Isight or HyperStudy
