Senior ServiceNow Platform Engineer
Core Responsibility
Own platform stability, architecture, and governance across all ServiceNow modules:
ITSM, CSM, CMDB
SPM (PPM)
GRC / IRM
Integrations ecosystem
Act as the technical decision-maker for the platform.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Ownership
Ensure uptime, performance, and data integrity
Define and enforce platform standards (naming, update sets, ACLs, etc.)
Manage instance upgrades and patching
Architecture & Design
Review and approve all new configurations
Prevent over-customization and enforce OOB-first approach
Rationalize existing configurations and technical debt
Module Oversight
ITSM workflows and SLAs
CSM case routing and portal performance
CMDB health and data model governance
SPM configuration (demand, project, financials)
GRC controls, risk models, audit workflows
Integration Ownership
Oversee integrations:
Workday (provisioning)
Tanium (CMDB updates)
Azure / LDAP
Genesys (portal data)
Virtual Agents (Teams, WellRyde)
Troubleshoot failures and optimize performance
Governance
Establish release management discipline
Implement environment strategy (Dev/Test/Prod)
Support CAB where needed
Mentorship
Upskill junior engineers (your 2 existing + new hire)
Provide code reviews and design guidance
Required Experience
6 to 10+ years in ServiceNow
Hands-on across multiple modules:
ITSM (must-have)
CMDB (must-have)
At least one of: CSM, SPM, or GRC
Strong experience with:
Script Includes, Business Rules, Flow Designer
IntegrationHub / REST / SOAP
Experience managing enterprise-scale instances
Must-Have Traits
Opinionated about platform governance
Strong bias toward simplification and standardization
Able to operate independently (critical in your setup)
Nice-to-Have
ServiceNow certifications (CSA + CIS modules)
Experience in healthcare or regulated environments
Exposure to HRSD
