About the Role
We're hiring a senior SEO professional who can own both classical organic growth and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), making sure our brand, products, and content surface in Google and Bing, and equally in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, and other LLM powered search experiences.
This is a senior individual contributor role with strategic ownership across multiple European markets. You'll define the search strategy, work cross functionally with content, product, and engineering teams, and report into senior marketing leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Traditional SEO
- Own end to end SEO strategy across multiple geographies and languages (DACH, Benelux, Nordics, France).
- Lead technical SEO audits covering site architecture, Core Web Vitals, indexation, schema, internationalization (hreflang), and crawl budget optimization.
- Drive on page optimization, internal linking, and topical authority for high intent commercial keywords.
- Build and execute link acquisition, digital PR, and authority building programs.
- Define KPIs and build dashboards (GA4, GSC, Ahrefs/Semrush, Looker Studio) to report on organic performance and pipeline impact.
Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)
- Build the GEO playbook from scratch by identifying how the brand, products, and competitor comparisons surface in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Bing Copilot, and Google AI Overviews.
- Optimize content structure, entity associations, citations, and source authority for LLM visibility.
- Track LLM brand mentions, share of model voice, and AI driven referral traffic, and benchmark against competitors.
- Use tools like Profound, Peec AI, Otterly, AthenaHQ, or build internal tracking via APIs to monitor AI search visibility.
- Influence content, PR, and partnership teams to create assets that LLMs preferentially cite (data studies, original research, comparison content, structured FAQs, llms.txt).
AI First Workflow
- Use AI heavily in your day to day work, including prompt engineering for content briefs, automated keyword clustering, programmatic SEO at scale, log file analysis with AI, content gap analysis, SERP analysis, and reporting automation.
- Build internal AI agents and workflows (n8n, Make, custom Python, Claude/OpenAI APIs) to automate repetitive SEO tasks.
- Stay ahead of new AI tools and bring them into the team's stack within days, not months.
Cross functional & strategic
- Partner with content teams to align editorial output with both traditional and AI search demand.
- Work with developers to implement schema, structured data, llms.txt, robots directives, and rendering improvements.
- Stay ahead of algorithm updates, model behavior changes, and emerging SERP features.
Must Have Requirements
- 4+ years of hands on SEO experience, with at least 1 to 2 years at a senior or lead level.
- Demonstrable GEO / LLM SEO / AI Search Optimization experience with case studies, frameworks, or measurable wins.
- You are an AI nerd. You don't just "use ChatGPT". You build prompts, chain workflows, integrate APIs, follow model releases, experiment with new tools weekly, and have strong opinions on which LLM is best for which SEO task. You should be able to talk fluently about RAG, embeddings, function calling, and how AI engines retrieve and cite sources.
- Strong technical SEO covering JavaScript SEO, schema markup, log file analysis, Core Web Vitals, and internationalization.
- Proficiency with Ahrefs, Semrush, Screaming Frog, GA4, Google Search Console, and Bing Webmaster Tools.
- Familiarity with at least one GEO tracking tool (Profound, Peec AI, Otterly, AthenaHQ, Goodie, etc.) or proven ability to build tracking via APIs.
- Experience on multi country and multilingual websites.
- SQL, Python, or no code automation (n8n, Make, Zapier) for SEO workflows is strongly preferred.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Immediate joiner or notice period of 15 days or less.
Nice to Have
- Background in performance marketing, affiliate marketing, lead generation, ad tech, or B2B SaaS.
- Experience with European markets (especially DACH, Benelux, or Nordics).
- Built side projects, blogs, or tools using AI APIs.
- Active on AI/SEO Twitter or LinkedIn, following the cutting edge of the field.
- Published original research, data studies, or thought leadership that earned LLM citations.
