Role Description The Senior Research Fellow (SRF) will be responsible for conducting advanced research under the guidance of the project principal investigator, including designing experiments or studies, collecting and analyzing data, and interpreting findings. Day-to-day tasks include literature review, developing research methodologies, preparing reports, manuscripts, and presentations, and contributing to project documentation and grant-related work. The SRF will mentor junior researchers and students, support laboratory or fieldwork activities, and ensure compliance with institutional and ethical guidelines. The role involves collaboration with faculty, project partners, and administrative staff to achieve research objectives and disseminate outcomes. This is a full-time, on-site role based at Central University of Tamil Nadu in Thiruvarur.
Qualifications
- Postgraduate degree (such as a Master’s or equivalent) in a relevant discipline; a PhD or significant doctoral-level research experience is preferred.
- Or MSc degree in Microbiology or in relevant disciplines with two years of research experience, or qualified in NET, GATE, or other equivalent national-level exam.
- Strong research experience in whole-genome sequencing data, metagenomics, and Sanger sequencing.
- Preferably good hands-on skills in sample collection from infected sites, storage and culture of bacteria, and a strong interest in antimicrobial resistance.
- Demonstrated research experience, including independent project work, data analysis, and scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Strong skills in research design, literature review, scientific writing, and preparation of reports, articles, and presentations.
- Ability to use appropriate research tools and techniques, such as statistical software, laboratory equipment, or fieldwork methods, depending on the discipline.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to academic and non-academic audiences.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and to mentor junior researchers or students.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.
- Familiarity with ethical research practices, institutional guidelines, and basic project or grant management procedures.
