Senior React Engineer - Legacy Application Modernisation (Contract)
Remote (India) | 6-Month Initial Contract
Help modernise a business-critical enterprise platform.
We're partnering with a fast-growing technology consultancy to find an experienced Senior React Engineer for a major application modernisation programme. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in transforming a large-scale legacy platform into a modern React application.
If you enjoy untangling complex systems, working on challenging migration projects, and building scalable front-end applications, this could be the perfect contract for you.
What you'll be doing
- Lead the migration of a large enterprise application from a legacy technology stack to React.
- Analyse and understand existing Objective-J/Cappuccino code to recreate and improve functionality in React.
- Build clean, maintainable, and high performing React components.
- Collaborate with engineers to deliver new features while ensuring business continuity throughout the migration.
- Contribute to technical decisions and help shape the future architecture of the platform.
What we're looking for
- Strong commercial experience developing applications with React.
- Excellent JavaScript and/or TypeScript skills.
- Experience modernising or migrating legacy applications to modern front-end frameworks.
- Ability to understand and work with existing codebases during phased migration projects.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a distributed engineering team.
Desirable experience
We're particularly interested in candidates with exposure to any of the following:
- Objective-J
- Cappuccino Framework
- Objective-C
- Cocoa
- macOS desktop application development
- Legacy JavaScript frameworks (e.g. AngularJS, Backbone, Ext JS, Dojo, Ember)
Don't worry if these aren't part of your most recent experience. If you've worked with them previously and have since built strong React expertise, we'd still love to hear from you.
