Position summary
The purpose of this position is to ensure the quality of the hydraulic products that Bailey and its group company source from suppliers located in various countries, including India, China, and Thailand. This position requires working with the quality team of the suppliers and Bailey’s business locations in various locations. Executing the roles and responsibilities of this position requires day-to-day interaction with stakeholders through various modes of communication and several on-site visits, which will include overseas travel. Besides possessing adequate knowledge in quality functions, being familiar with various manufacturing processes will be desirable.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited institution.
Around 8 years of work experience in manufacturing industry, preferably hydraulics related industry, as quality personnel in any category.
Experience in performing quality audits in both Manufacturing processes and Quality Management system and reporting out.
Key Competencies
Able to handle all measuring and testing equipment
Ability to interpret engineering drawings with GD&T
Familiar with the calibration methods of M&TE
Having knowledge in various raw materials (ferrous and non-ferrous) used in a manufacturing industry and their qualifying process for consumption
Familiar with various manufacturing processes of a mechanical engineering industry, especially hydraulic industries
Preparing and keep updating the effective audit formats considering the requirement of the final products and modern manufacturing processes.
Capable of performing a thorough quality audit in a manufacturing environment
Analysing the audit findings and providing recommendations to upkeep and improve product quality
Ability to demonstrate to the suppliers about the audit findings
Handling CARs with the suppliers and ability to analyse the effectiveness of the CARs
Working Experience in 7QC tools, 8D reports
Working knowledge in SPC, PPAP, MSA, FMEA and APQP
Knowledge in WPS and PQR
Knowledge in product verification and validation
Fluency in both spoken and written English required
Essential Functions and responsibilities
Develop control plans and quality plans for products and components.
Work cross-functionally with the other departments in the company to meet the customer requirements.
Participate in the development and maintenance of standards for engineering practices, materials, drawings, etc.
Candidate must be able to travel in short notice to overseas for on-site inspection and quality audits. The period of stay outside the native country will be two to three weeks. The frequency of travel will be every 3 months.
Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines while producing a quality work product.
Must be able to collaborate with team members of Bailey group companies and their suppliers located in various countries across the world.
Working knowledge in MS word, PowerPoint and excel is essential.
To be flexible in working hours to match with the work hours of customers and suppliers in other countries/time zones.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Must adhere to company procedures and work in a safe manner.
Relationships
This position is based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India office and will report directly to our General Manager – QA & NPD. The position will work daily with the local and overseas vendors and will receive work direction from the manager in MHPL. The interactions will include discussions of projects and vendor site inspection, peer reviews, etc. The exchange of ideas and knowledge is expected to go in both directions. The goal is to treat the organization as one Quality Team, located in different offices, building on each other’s strengths.

This position requires the ability to work in an office environment as well as a shop environment. Must be able to operate a telephone, computer, calculator, copier, scanner and any other office equipment. Must be able to sit, walk and stand for extended periods of time. Also, this position requires travel to the vendor places frequently (within India and overseas)

This position could be split between an office environment, test shop, and a manufacturing environment. The employee will work around moving mechanical equipment and may be exposed to fumes and airborne particles. Indoor shop temperatures may be affected by outdoor conditions. Noise level is moderate to loud.
