Job Description
The Senior QA Engineer position is an AI Native, automation-first, proactive quality owner responsible for fundamentally elevating the QA function at Buyerr. This role directly solves three critical gaps: an over-reliance on manual testing, critical edge cases and functionality-level bugs being missed in loyalty platform releases, and the absence of end-to-end QA ownership.
The person with the right skillset is expected to do more than test what is built. They must challenge requirements, surface design-level gaps before development starts, and build AI-assisted automation that scales as our campaign portfolio grows across consumer promotions, trade promotions, and loyalty programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end QA strategy across consumer promotion microsites, trade promotion, and loyalty platforms.
- Deploy AI-assisted test generation using LLMs (Claude, GitHub Copilot) to automatically produce test cases, edge case scenarios, and regression scripts, eliminating manual test-writing overhead.
- Build and maintain a Playwright / Selenium automation framework for UI flows and API contract testing (OTP, code validation, reward trigger, UPI payout chains) via REST Assured or Postman/Newman.
- Implement AI-powered self-healing automation scripts that adapt to UI changes, reducing framework maintenance as campaigns evolve
- Integrate test automation into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions / Azure DevOps) and enforce quality gates on every build and pre-release deployment
- Close historical coverage gaps: reward redemption edge cases, concurrent flows, duplicate code submission, OTP expiry, UPI failure states, and loyalty state machine transitions previously missed.
- Validate data integrity against MySQL and MSSQL post-test — reward states, session records, points balances, and stored procedure outputs
- Champion shift-left QA: review requirements, raise gaps before development starts, suggest product and design improvements — not just report defects after the fact
- Run pre-launch load tests (JMeter / k6), lead go/no-go decisions, and mentor the existing QA team on automation and AI tooling
- Mentor junior testers and review test cases and automation scripts
- Participate in release go/no-go decisions with product and tech leadership
- Continuously improve QA processes to match unrealistic turnaround expectations
Qualification & Characteristics
Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
- Advanced certifications in Automation, Agile, or DevOps (preferred)
- 4-7 years of work experience.
- ISTQB Advanced or Test Automation certifications preferred
Technical Skills:
- Playwright, Selenium, or Cypress for UI automation; REST Assured / Postman/Newman for API automation
- Java and JavaScript proficiency — aligned with Spring Boot + React.js + Typescript + HTML/CSS/JS stack
- SQL across MySQL and MSSQL; CI/CD integration (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins)
- AI testing tools: LLM-based test generation (Claude API, Copilot), self-healing frameworks (Helenium or equivalent)
- Performance testing: JMeter or k6 for campaign launch load simulation
Behavioural Characteristics:
- AI-forward by default, actively uses LLM tools to multiply QA output, not just as a productivity novelty
- Proactive quality advocate, raises edge cases and design gaps during requirements, before code is written
- High ownership mindset, treats a missed production defect as a personal accountability; comfortable in both rapid campaign (48–72 hr) and rigorous platform release modes
- Strong communicator across Tech, Campaign Ops, and SDM — articulates business impact, not just bug severity
