Job Title: Senior Python Developer

About the Role
We are augmenting a growing internal tools team supporting the Servicing side of a consumer lending business. We're looking for a senior, hands-on Python developer who can work with minimal upfront specification, engage directly with business stakeholders when needed, and independently build and ship production-quality modules on a modern Python stack.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship internal tools/modules replacing legacy Excel and .NET-based workflows for Investment Operations and Servicing teams.
- Work independently and iteratively — requirements will often be loosely defined at the start and refined in collaboration with the Product Owner/business stakeholders.
- Build and maintain backend services using Python (FastAPI) integrated with Azure SQL Server.
- Contribute to multiple parallel projects/modules within a broader platform initiative.
- Collaborate with the Head of Engineering/Technology on architecture and technical standards.
- Optionally integrate LLM/AI capabilities (e.g., Anthropic/Claude API) into workflows, subject to data security/privacy approval.
- Attend daily standups (10:00 AM ET) and support initial knowledge-transfer overlap.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5–10+ years of professional software development experience, with strong hands-on expertise in Python.
- Solid experience with FastAPI (or comparable Python web frameworks) for building backend services/APIs.
- Strong SQL skills; experience with Azure SQL Server preferred.
- Experience modernizing/migrating legacy systems (e.g., .NET, Excel-based tools) into scalable applications is a strong plus.
- Ability to work with ambiguous or evolving requirements and communicate directly with business stakeholders when needed.
- Financial services / consumer lending / loan servicing domain experience is a strong plus, not mandatory.
- Experience integrating LLM/AI APIs (e.g., Anthropic Claude, OpenAI) into applications is a nice-to-have.
Tech Stack Python, FastAPI, Azure SQL Server, REST APIs, Git; exposure to .NET/Java (for legacy interop) and LLM APIs (Anthropic/Claude) is a plus.
