Job Description – Senior Production Engineer
Department: Manufacturing / Operations
Location: Yantra Design Pvt. Ltd., Plant – Sanki Village, Kadodara, Surat.
Reports To: Managing Director
Job Purpose
The Senior Production Engineer will be responsible for the overall leadership, strategy, and performance of the manufacturing plant. The role ensures safe, efficient, and cost-effective production of CNC machines and components while meeting quality standards, delivery timelines, and business objectives. The position drives operational excellence, team performance, and continuous improvement across all plant functions.
Key Responsibilities 1. Plant Operations Management
• Oversee complete plant operations including production, assembly, fabrication, machining, and dispatch
• Ensure achievement of daily, weekly, and monthly production targets
• Monitor capacity utilization and optimize resources
• Plan production schedules in coordination with design, sales, and procurement teams
• Ensure smooth workflow and on-time delivery
2. Production & Process Excellence
• Improve productivity, efficiency, and throughput
• Implement Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Reduce cycle time, wastage, and rework
• Standardize processes and SOPs across departments
• Drive automation and process improvements wherever feasible
3. Quality Management
• Ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications
• Monitor rejection rates, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
• Coordinate with QA/QC for inspections and audits
• Maintain customer satisfaction through consistent product quality
• Ensure compliance with ISO/industry standards
4. Maintenance & Asset Management
• Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance of machines and equipment
• Minimize downtime and breakdowns
• Improve machine availability and reliability
• Monitor plant utilities and infrastructure upkeep
• Plan capex for new machinery and upgrades
5. Team Leadership & HR Coordination
• Lead, mentor, and manage departmental heads and shopfloor teams
• Ensure manpower planning and skill development
• Conduct performance reviews and training programs
• Maintain discipline, productivity, and team morale
• Coordinate with HR for recruitment, attendance, compliance, and policies
6. Safety & Compliance
• Ensure strict adherence to workplace safety standards
• Enforce use of PPE and safety practices on shopfloor
• Maintain statutory and legal compliance (Factories Act, labor laws, etc.)
• Conduct safety audits and risk assessments
• Ensure accident-free operations
7. Cost Control & Budgeting
• Prepare and manage plant budgets
• Monitor manufacturing costs and control expenses
• Optimize material usage and inventory
• Reduce wastage and improve cost efficiency
• Evaluate vendor performance and procurement costs
8. Coordination & Reporting
• Coordinate with design, sales, procurement, stores, and dispatch for smooth operations
• Track KPIs and prepare management reports
• Provide daily/weekly/monthly MIS to senior management
• Participate in strategic planning and expansion initiatives
9. Strategic & Business Contribution
• Support business growth through capacity planning
• Lead new product introductions and plant expansion projects
• Identify risks and improvement opportunities
• Drive operational excellence aligned with company goals
Qualifications
• BE/B.Tech in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering (MBA Operations preferred)
• 5-10 years of manufacturing experience
• Minimum 3 years in plant leadership/operations management role
• Experience in CNC/machinery/manufacturing industry preferred
