Role Overview
We are looking for a senior leader to drive product innovation and development for cable grip products and other cable management accessories. The role will lead end-to-end product design and new product development, translating customer RFQs into engineered solutions and production-ready samples while ensuring manufacturability, cost efficiency, and compliance with international standards.
Work closely with Operations, Design, and Quality teams at Pune plants to ensure the technical integrity of customer samples and support customer-specific requirements through design iterations. As a leader, oversee design related documentation maintained by junior Design and Quality engineers to ensure traceability and revision history as per ISO standards.
Liaise with customer technical teams and component suppliers to ensure requirements are clearly understood and accurately implemented, enabling efficient product development and reliable manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities Area
1- Product Design:
- Design and develop robust, application-specific designs for standard and customized cable grips and ancillary products.
- Ensure samples/prototypes meet customer performance requirements and comply with safety standards.
- Support customer technical discussions and resolve application-specific design challenges
- Optimize designs for manufacturability, cost efficiency, and engineering feasibility
- Create detailed technical drawings using AutoCAD/SolidWorks, simulations, and cross-validate with Operations/Quality to ensure production capability
2- New Product Development:
- Lead end-to-end NPD lifecycle from concept & prototyping to validation of cable grip and non-cable grip products, market release and serial production.
- Drive product innovation based on customer feedback and management goals
- Ensure NPD projects are completed within defined timelines and budgets
- Target first-time-right quality with minimal rework
3- Documentation & Process Standardization:
- Create, maintain, and update technical documentation for product designs in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
- Develop and manage BOMs, job cards, assembly drawings, and process workflows in line with ISO standards.
- Ensure documentation remains aligned with design and production changes, maintaining traceability and revision control.
Qualifications:
- BE/BTech in Mechanical Engineering
- 8–10 + years of experience in engineering or manufacturing set up, with a strong focus on product design and new product development (NPD)
- Proven experience leading NPD projects from concept through commercialization
- Experience in the cable, wire or metal products industry preferred.
Technical & Professional Skills:
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD
- Strong knowledge of design principles, manufacturing processes, quality standards, and design validation methods.
- Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
- Design validation, testing, and product qualification
- BOM structuring and engineering documentation
- Good understanding of international standards and compliance requirements, with strong project management capabilities focused on timelines and budgets.
- Strong leadership and problem solving ability to handle design challenges
- Cross-functional collaboration skills, with effective stakeholder communications
- Fluency in English; Hindi or Marathi preferred.
